Finally the long awaited Le Grill at the Hotel de Paris is back in operation after closing nearly 2 years ago to rebuild. The room on the 8th Floor is curved and affords the best views overlooking Monaco that money can buy. I ordered the Menu du jour for €80 Three courses including 2 glasses of wine. Without wine €55. I was hard pressed to find a bottle of wine for under €150 and so settled on a bottle of Santanay Premier Cru at €130
My starter of Octopus, Shellfish and Potato Salad was cold and soulless not unlike my ex boyfriend who happened to be sitting opposite me. This was followed by the Beef which had obviously seen better days.
Their saving grace was their smiley and professional staff and a delicious Grand Marnier Souffle as big as your head. The a la carte menu seemed overpriced for relatively ordinary faire.
ps.. try not to look at the carpet. It almost put me off my food.report this review -

Just reopened after a complete building reconstruction and already outdated with local habits. Pompous yet unprofessional service, missing out constantly, stratospheric prices for a very unsophisticated cuisine...What's left? a nice view for €250pp while there are more than 30 Michelin starred restaurant on the Riviera...

La réouverture était attendue avec impatience.
Quelques fausses notes mineures à régler mais toujours un très bon restaurant. Le cadre est toujours aussi phénoménal (vue panoramique et toit ouvrant).
- La présentation des assiettes mériterait un peu plus d'attention.
- Des alternatives végétariennes sont présentes.
- Le rapport qualité/quantité/prix est assez bon.
Les quantités servies sont très confortables.
Attention, nous parlons d'un restaurant anciennement étoilé (récompense perdue à cause de la destruction et reconstruction du bâtiment) et non pas d'un bistrot de quartier. Les prix sont en adéquation avec les produits, le service et le cadre. Rien de péjoratif mais il faut remettre les choses dans le contexte.
- Le service a été fort sympathique et souriant mais a vite été débordé au fur et à mesure du remplissage des tables.report this review -
