Airlines companies advice you to go three hours before the flight and you don’t need this amount of time. You have to pass two different scan controls, show your passport incontable times and also pass the police control. Too much. There are two coffee shops. Expensive prices there and also in the shops. The prices are in euros, not in Moroccan currency. The building design is beautiful, Arabic style.

This is by far the worst airport I have ever been to.
The airline advises you to be 3 hours prior to your flight in case of delays. There were FOUR flights leaving Fes that day. They checked my passport 6 times from the moment I crossed the main door and went through security quite fast.
There’s two “duty free” shops here with ridiculous prices and two cafès for a quick bite. One of them takes only cash.
The amount of money they spent in renovating this must be exorbitant, however they put no thought into passengers comfort. They make you go 3 hours before your flight to sit there doing NOTHING and with no option to eat.response / report this review -

Very beautifully designed airport, but that’s about it. Confusing signage different to international standards. The security measures are excessive, I’ve got my passport checked 6 times, and bags scanned twice. I don’t understand what is the purpose of so many passport checks?! Then you enter into the departures hall, which is one small hall with 4 gates and not much else to do. There are two duty free shops selling same stuff at prices that are higher than in European airports or even high street. There are two small cafes, Cafe Lindo selling overpriced and tasteless sandwiches for €4.00 or a nasty coffee for €3, prices are all in euros and exaggerated even higher than in some of European airports, and in contrast to prices in Morocco this is insane! You can only pay in euros in most places and if you want to pay in Dhs you can sometimes, but at a rip-off exchange rate. I was very bored at this airport, given the advice to arrive at least 3hrs before, although it was empty and only 10 flights depart today, if that even! But I can imagine that on arrivals it would be a bottleneck at security.

Small airport with very little to offer. There is one small cafe that serves overpriced croissants and sandwiches. The quality of the food was rather bad.
Other than that, there is not much to do. There are about 2 duty free shops that sell the same stuff.
There is no smoking area beyond security checks. Free WiFi is available for 3 hours.response / report this review -

The airport is seriously fancy, but the architecture totally does not consider passenger comfort. The designers who were probably paid millions to spend billions on this building have maybe never had to wait for their flights before. The lobby is beautiful, but there's only a few seating areas and it is rock hard on butt. If only they used some of the budget they spent on the FOUR FANCY FOUNTAINS on some more comfortable seating area. Booo

USE CAUTION!
This airport is one of drastic contrasts.
It is a remarkably well-designed, beautiful airport, but it suffers from corruption and/or incompetence.
MONEY:
The airport management have recently removed all ATMs from the airport leaving only money exchanges that charge huge commissions. They try to hide commissions by telling you that it's your bank that is charging the fees, but it's not true. You can verify that they are ripping you off because they will tell you something like "10 euros is 100 dinar, but your bank will charge you 150". This is a scam, because on the form that they ask you to sign for example, they do not charge 10 euros for 100 dirham, they will charge 150 dirham to withdraw 100 dirham. This means there is no conversion happening, they are simply charging your bank more than they are telling you they are. I recommend bringing some euros and then using an ATM outside the the airport as soon as possible.
TRANSPORTATION:
Another racket. Nothing in the airport suggests there is local public transportation available, but there is in fact a bus stop outside the airport. The bus stop doesn't have a timetable, but only costs 10 dirham to get to the city. Taxis try to charge an exorbitant 120 to 150 dirhams for the same route. This is obviously overpriced because any other metered taxi in Fes would cost less than 30 dirhams for the same ride.
SECURITY / CUSTOMS:
While arriving and departing from this airport, it is required that you fill out a piece of paper with all of your details. This compounds the long lines. Make sure you have a pen or you'll be waiting for one (none are supplied).
On top of the annoying paper slip, the checkin process is a tad redundant. I literally had my passport checked 7 different times while checking into my flight. This many layers of "security" slows down an otherwise lax process.
FOOD/DINING OPTIONS:
As always, airport food is overpriced, but I thought this airport was dis-proportionally high, given the local prices. The airport I was flying through in Italy in fact had cheaper food than Fes. There are also no drinking fountains / drinkable water in this airport, only bottled water for 3.5 euro.response / report this review -

Very nice little airport with nice security. You show boarding pass/passport about 6 times before boarding but each time is fast. The shops are in euros and very overpriced as at most airports. Easy to get through. Only 4 gates. Beautiful decor.

Very new airport terminal, mainly servicing Ryanair. Passport/tickets shown about four-six times, but otherwise all very relaxed and quick. No long lines and no problem taking extra bags and/or water bottles. Only 3-4 shops and very little catering, mainly spirits and smokes. European pricing.

The airport is really small, offering close to no services (one café). You are security checked at least three times and they want such things like a stamp from drop-off desk on your boarding pass. And the worst thing is the transport from/to the city centre. You obviously can take a bus no. 16, however, its departure times from the centre are unknown and even staff at railway station couldn't help us with that. But if you spent your night in medina and you have an early flight, I recommend arranging a taxi through your hotel and let some of your hotel staff accompany you to the taxi. You don't want to walk through medina in the dark.
Nonetheless, security personnell is quite nice and kind and they are the reason why this airport deserves two stars.response / report this review -

Flown in to this airport around 40 times and every time the security is over the top when coming into the airport the the now use a new x-ray machine to check your bags before you enter into Morocco after passport control. So I'll explain the amount of checks you face. 1 when you get off the plane as you enter the airport then your checked at passport control then your bags are checked with x-ray before the arrivals gate then before you exit the airport you may have a ramdon check by the exit door. I really don't understand why it's like this here. But it does function slow at times to get out.

Horrible airport. Bottlenecks at every security checkpoint. Prepare to have your passport and boarding pass checked 12 times by 12 people. Shoes off, only one scanner in operation And still I managed to get my huge bottle of water thru security! Moroccan airport security is a joke. Avoid departing thru this airport.

Rating the first terminal. Mildly average. Not very big. Limited coffee shop. Limited waitinhg chairs. People laying down the ground. Clearance in entrance check in and quick luggage pick up.
