We booked and paid online for a beach chalet, but upon checking in they put us in regular rooms. After several hours we figured out their mistake but management didn't offer any apologies. Dinner buffet has very limited choices and really expensive.
Hardly any offering of authentic srilankan food.
Room towels are quite old and stained. Property is big and scenic. If you stay here eat lunch and dinner off premises.

I’m not too sure my understanding is right but when it comes like Cinnamon plus something that experience is great but when it comes something plus Cinnamon it’s not up to the expectations.

This place is definitely not the place for seafood though it’s located near to the beach. Sometimes I think I may have ate more seafood than here in Cinnamon Citadel Kandy..

The hotel is basically good and the staff are friendly. Food was variable. However the reason I can only give it 2 stars is because not only do they put 10% service charge on absolutely everything but they then put on another 30% tax on everything. An extra 40%+ on everything is simply unacceptable. No other hotels we stayed in during our 27 day tour charged this tax. Rip off, don't use it.

Very good hotel. Nice staff ! Food lacks sophistication for it's class. The rooms we had was very far from the restaurant but quite nice ! Only issue was the outdoor shower always has dirt if it rains.

The beach is full of plastic and other garbage. The hotel needs to pay more attention to this since they are earning off of this. It's so dirty you don't want to get in.

It's very nice. Ambiance is very good. Service is good. At par with star hotel facilities. Sea is very close to the cottages. One can enjoy sea from rooms itself. If again I visit Sri Lanka I visit only Trincomalee and stay in this hotel .

Nice atmosphere. Clean and spacious rooms. The restaurant is nice and clean and the food is actually not bad. Good place for a vacation. Plenty of places to visit around the hotel. A near by place offers snorkeling and scuba diving( just next to the hotel).

A very good hotel by the beachthe staff were very courteous.. The breakfast and dinner spreads were greatThey arrange for whale watching and other activities if need be.. All the rooms have a beach viewWe had a great time staying here

All round a very pleasant place to stay. The food is good, the service is good with typical warm smiles and lots of kindness. The combination of 30m pool and beachfront aspect is wonderful, both are good without being great. Oddly the red flags on the beach didn’t seem to come with any lifeguard on duty, they must be ‘advisory’ for the best location. The rooms are clean and acceptable for appointments (safe, coffee/tea making), bathroom clean and beds comfortable.

To the animal topic mentioned sometimes, this didn’t much bother us but I’ll mention it for info
1- The pool attendant had a slingshot system for the odd hungry black bird (seemingly common to all island Resorts) He worked hard and was somewhat effective, just don’t walk too far away from your poolside food as they are persistent.
2- there was one small cat roaming unobtrusively around the outside dining area, but not bothering anyone.
3- a cautious local stray dog did venture within a few metres of our poolside chairs, he just looked wantonly at us for something to eat before being moved off by the pool attendant.

Altogether though there was nothing to complain about but it’s not so remarkable to want (IMHO) the prices being asked. It wasn’t peak season but we still paid too much considering the quality of resort, and it is at the end of a 5.5 hr drive.

I am a Srilankan and visited the country after many year as I have fond memories of the Island especially Trinco as I was born there. I must say that the staff was excellent and so was the service, rooms were very clean , but I am very sorry to say that the food was something to be desired. After paying Rs 20 000 per night it was very disappointing to learn that that there was no sea food like prawns crabs and good quality fish. The fish that was served was Tuna one of the cheapest fish available. Spanish Mackerel is one of the best fish available, but management failed miserable or should I say tardiness on there part to provide good food is this a way of cost cutting after paying Rs 20 000 per night. Come, come management wake up you cannot hoodwink Sri Lankan's this is good for white people. Do take note should you visit this resort you will be disappointed after paying so much money. Tony

Pros:
Nice location with ample outdoor space.
A long and safe beach just outside the hotel keeps you busy for hours.
Food is good with nice variety.

Cons:
Shore needs a lot of cleaning.
Better to upgrade the rooms with RFID keycards. The heavy and large set of keys are so inconvenient.

Cleanliness is a bit low. And staff attentiveness is also a bit low for a 4 star. The beach was also not very private. There were also crows bathing by the poolside, their feathers we floating in the pool. The pool attedent was not present for towels, wasn't doing his job maintaining the pool and keeping the crows away!

The place is good with swimming pool and we can enjoy the beach. The food also good but the selection is less compare to other hotels that fall into this category. Rooms are quite big and has old look, may be constructed long time back. The service by the hotel people also good. If you are going from colombo for this hotel stay only , then it may be less worthy to spend the time to travel from colombo and I'll recommend to stay some hotels in down south for the same price.

It's a really cool place with a wide choice of delicious desserts and scrumptious main courses, cozy bed rooms and splendid service.The swimming pool is certainly as long as a river with a baby pool and nearby showering cubicles. In addition, you get a spectacular view of the beach and the surrounding coastal areas. An enchanting getaway to a dazzling vacation. Don't miss this on your way to Trinco.

Be ready to be pampered and have the best holiday/stay from the moment you step into this hotel. The view is simply stunning, EXCELLENT service! Great comfortable rooms with a great sea view. This place is lively and there is so much for you to do. Although the food/ buffet here is not the greatest, the other positives give us a reason to over look that fact. Wonderful place

Went for a holiday.
When booking the place we did not expect much.
But on arrival, we realized that it is well worthy for the money.
Facility is very clean (Except very early morning, before cleaning)
Well spaced, good customer care, room we stayed were excellent.
Food was very good. They offer whale watching and pigeon island trips including snorkeling. If comes as groups, it is cheaper for those boat rides. overall very nice experience.

It was a great stay in Trinco Blue and such a magical location it is. The beach is beautiful and clean. You can find many activities around the area such as Pigeon Island Trip, Snorkeling, Dolphin watching and nature trails. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are really close to beach. Food would have been better with a little more variety (compared to other cinnamon hotels) but overall good and delicious. Nice pool area and a bar is available just outside close to the beach

Nice location on a long beach. Friendly staff, good size and well equipped rooms and a good choice of dining, from a buffet with a huge variety of dishes to a beach side bar/restaurant. Great base for exploring the surroundings and watching Blue Whales and Sperm Whales which are found in the sea off this coast.

One of the biggest let-downs in Sri Lanka. Trinco Blu truly has all the right tools to excel as a successful resort in what is a spectacular area of the country, however the staff consistently disappoint. I've never been at a resort where staff have been so unhelpful in assisting with standard requests. Customer service was lacking at the best of times, especially on the part of management and the head office in Colombo. This would easily be remedied through the implementation of increased training, as well as a corporate philosophy that is guest focused. Also, the food quality is not appropriate for a 4 or 5 star hotel. Would strongly recommend that you arrange accommodations at another property to ensure your visit to Trinco is remarkable.

Lovely location and pool area with beach just a few steps away. Crab restaurant excellent, delicious food. We only paid a heavily-discounted rate (off-season?) and I wouldn't pay $240 for this place, but at 70% off it's a total bargain and very pleasant around the pool with fewer people staying. Staff friendly and helpful.
