We enjoyed well. This is a nice place to stay with your family. Nice food, maybe bit oily. Friendly and very helpful staff, 'Mama' in kitchen specially.

The accommodation was excellent. Loved the experience in the treehouse. Was able to relax in the pool after a days walking around visiting the sigiriya rock fortress and taking the Bullock cart ride, boat ride. The food is simple yet delicious. Just what you want on such a holiday. Had a super enjoyable time.

Our room was spacious and comfortable and had a tropical feeling about it. Owners greeted us and looked after us during our stay. Breakfast was delicious breakfast. Only stayed for one night because we were on the way to Trinco, but wish we stayed for few more nights to soak up the relaxing surroundings.

Room is spacious, but no proper vanity table but instead a small glass table and a wall mirror. There's a small kitchenette with a sink as you go towards the bathroom. Bathroom is pretty spacious but not loving the grimy shower curtain and the shower that splashes everywhere because the shower ledge isn't totally separated from the toilet area. Not sure if it's just our room, but water from shower is weak, so weak that you choose either super hot or cold shower.
Food is sometimes buffet for dinner or a set menu where you choose which set you like. Below average meals as chicken and fish is tough and overcooked and not even warm! Hoppers on one of the night's buffet is good though, eggs fried just right.
Breakfast is usually toast, slices of cake, fruits, a choice of omelette/fried/scrambled eggs and some jam/butter. Coffee is watery but I can say tea is lovely.
Swimming pool is pretty good, with limited lounge chairs (8 in total?) and 4 wooden chairs that are so deep you sit on your tail spine.
WIFI available.
Owners are lovely and ask about your day. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Tip: there's a shop down the road to buy water and snacks.response / report this review -

Repeated thefts happening here and management absolutely disregards it!
When I was researching potential hotels, I got a message from one of the drivers I was considering that he recommends to really avoid this place as one of his customers got their money stolen here.
I looked at the reviews, it looked ok, plus I did not know if that statement wasn't only to steer me to another hotel where the commission for the driver would be higher, so I booked this hotel at the end.
This has cost me 300 USD stolen of my wife's purse that was hidden inside one of our backpacks! We know exactly when it happened as we requested help with hot water in the treehouse and at one moment there was a staff member bit nervous leaving our treehouse with an excuse that he was looking for us to show us hot water. Obviously he was a thief.
When we noticed the money being gone, we called the management and they accused us of lying, yelled at us and basically completely disregarded whole claim directing us to the police station if we want to achieve something. I might not be an expert on Police at third world countries, but they are not necessarily known for efficiency, so when you are on your short holiday - you kind of know the result, especially looking how management covered for their staff.
Overall, definitely avoid this place, unless you want to get rid of extra money.response / report this review -

Great place , staff welcoming and very friendly. Stay one night at hotel. Treehouse and swimming pool excellent.Food is normally, ah ..main thing they didn't provide driver accommodation. Its very bad things because its another expense to driver or us .totally good.

We stayed at The Hideout for two nights in room 3. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was good. Beware though; you shouldn't be sensitive when it comes to bugs and insects. We found three cockroaches in the bathroom and there were many ants as well. Also notice that some of the windows don't have glass in them - only a mosquito net. This means that all the sounds and noises from outside can be heard loud and clear in the room. I found it difficult to sleep because of this, others may find it charming.

Beautifully designed and cosy hideout. I love the swimming pool and the tree house. It was a great experience to stay there. Very friendly and English speaking staff looked after everything to make my stay there an unforgettable experience. Great Sri Lankan authhentic food and the hospitality of tbe staff take you out of this world.
