  If you live in this area ( meaning sabaragamuwa province sri lanka) this is the best hospital exist in the area. Forget bout the nice private hospitals in the close vicinity, when you are seriously sick this is the place to go. Everything is for free & can be exceptions here and there but mostly it is free. Dont expect high service standards but my experience has been satisfactory. Good thing that striked me the most bout the hospital is that the nursing staff are very knowledgeble unlike in the private hospitals.

  Never go to ward 2A for your delivery. Had the worst experience there. Doctors, nurses & hospital staff are kind enough to find each & every mistake of pregnant mothers.

  Ratnapura Provincial Generel Hospital is the main government hospital in Ratnapura with very facilitize wards, laboratories, advanced modern machines, surgeons, specialists, nurses and staff.

  This is the main and most advanced government hospital in Sabaragamuwa Province. Usually a heavily crowded place. Maintaining the Japanese 5S concept and National Productivity Secretariat standards. You can meet the patients at 6-7 at the morning 12-1 in the noon and 5-6 in the evening. Hospital police, security and all staff are very strict and never try to violate the rules. Polythene bags and other disposable plastic products are not allowed in the hospital. Always use reusable bags and paper bags to carry things. There is a huge que in the OPD pharmacy and be prepared for it. It's better if you can take your own bedsheets, pillows, pillowcases and other hygienic products rather than expecting from the hospital. Easy to reach to the town by bus or a tuk tuk. Bus fare is 10 rupees and tuk tuk fare is 150 (2017).

  You should love this place. Need lots of improvemensmts but doing their job with minimum facilities. Good supportive and respectable nursing saff and doctors. If anyone have capabilities for donations, don't shy away.
