Reaching and exiting roads not in good condition. Surrounding view very beautiful. Nearby no washroom no snack shop. Can't stop vehicles on the bridge. The bridge is permanently closed until further notice due to security reasons from 21st April 2019.

This dam is a very straight one which make itself very attractive. It supplies water to Ukuwela power house by tunnels under the land. Side of the river there is a walking lane and concrete bench. We can rest there while enjoying the nice view.

Does a good job of holding the water in the reservoir. But there are a few leaks here and there. If you're visiting try to bring something to plug the leaks. Also, beware of the kabaragoyaz.

Polgolla Dam built across the Mahaweli River at Polgolla, in the Kandy District Sri Lanka. The Damis used to increase the volume of water, for transfer to the hydroelectric power station located 8 km north, via tunnel to Ukuwela Power Station in Ukuwela, Matale, it consists of two 20 MW hydroelectric generators, totaling the plant capacity to 40 MW. Both units were commissioned in July 1976. Water from the power station is discharged into the Amban River

Diverts water to a power plant situated 5 miles away and thereafter goes to Agricultural areas in the country. You can visit this scenic place by a attracting sea plane tour from Colombo to Polgolla Reservoir Airport (KDZ). I would like to invite you to visit me for a Sri Lankan meal as I live closer to this place.
