Get ready to spend at least 3 hours! Fantastic place for a walk, picnic or just sitting around. Beautiful avenues lined with trees, smaller gardens with flowers and of course, the great circle with the memorial trees - everything is just wonderfully laid out. Take the map with you from the desk or just wander aimlessly, you won't get bored. The cafe and canteens inside the park are good for a quick snack. Entry fee is USD 15, totally worth it.

These immaculately maintained gardens are a must visit location when in the Kandy region. The gardens are spread over several acres and has a multitude of rare botanical species some found only here. The highlights are the display of colorful Orchid plants and the magnificent Palm drive. There is plenty more to see and do. Keep two hours for a leisurely stroll or hire a golf buggy to save your feet and beat the heat.

Full a spectacular established trees, a huge assortment of flowers & animal life who have made this place their home (we saw monkeys, many different birds & bats). The paths were well-maintained & the maps easy to follow (we also used Google maps, which was helpful to get us back on time). We spent 1.5 hours but could have easily explored for longer- I suspect many people would get tired before they got bored! Highly recommend.

The shear massiveness of this park alone will take your breath away..as soon as you enter you are faced by a picturesque path decorated with small colorful flowers and bushes that goes deep into an abyss of trees that might as well be infinite.
Could easily take 3 hours to cover the park (if you are quick). Meet and feed a family of monkeys, go over a suspended bridge that swivels over a river, see the huge quantities of flying foxes hanging from the trees, and appreciate the extensive work and attention to detail that was carried out to create a garden worth of fairy tail book.

Beautiful place to take some exercise and learn from nature. Well worth a visit. I hope the management are putting the income from entry fees into continuing enhancement and not living on the legacy of past investments. Clean environment to enjoy.

Delighted with the Botanic gardens, which is very well maintained and had interesting trees and plants, many of which were labelled. The gardens cater for hundeds of school children who were given talks as well as let loose later on the fields. It was nice to see that a future generation was positively inspired. I recommend this garden to people of all ages.

A quiet and picturesque place where you can probably spend more than half a day provided it isn't too sunny and hot. Owing to the greenery, the temperature surely is a bit lower than the township. There aren't much cafes or bistros inside and one should carry sufficient water if one plans to spend more time inside. The orchid house is small though kept well. Though the park closes at 6.30 pm, the orchid house closes at 5.30 pm. The place is well-maintained and surely is worth a visit, though the entrance fee is high.

Simply amazing..

To cover this place on foot, you need 1 full day. It has hills all around and a river on the side and also a small bridge to experience it. Lovely flowers, trees and all natural beauty..

The arrangement of trees and plants are something to be looked for.

You can spend some quality time on the Riverside with a spectacular view of hills and a cold breeze under the sun!

Well maintained. Has over 4000 species of plants. The palm and the bamboo collections are impressive. Unless you are in the mood to walk for 6 to 7 hours I suggest you take a battery cart which will take you around in an hour. The driver we got was knowledgeable and showed us the important places and plants and have us interesting stories around each part of the garden.

One of the biggest and most famous botanical garden in Sri Lanka. Local and tourist attraction site. Big variety of plants available. Nice walking resting areas. Having several restaurant options too. Very nice to walk with kids as education and enjoying purpose with family. Main draw back is the many lovers make love in the park and sometimes it is difficult to walk with small kids as the scenery is not so nice.

This botanical garden is very near to Kandy and it is a must visit place. The total area is quite large near about 140 acres. At the entry they provide you a map of the place which helps you in your selection. Great lawns with java fig trees give a beautiful look. Double coconut palms are great attraction. Huge old, tall bamboo trees are very unique. Lake with lilies and hanging bridge is another attraction. Palm avenues are photographer's delight. Small plant house with cacti is added attraction. Orchid house has captivating display. We can easily spend 3 to 4 hours here. Very well maintained . Must wear cap to avoid the droppings of the large number of bats.

It is one of the largest botanic gardens in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This garden was established in 1821 and is an area of 147 acres. It was established for the cultivation of coffee trees and various tropical monuments of economic importance. It has become one of the most important tourist destinations with 2 million visitors per year and visitors to this garden are nature lovers. With visitors, especially on weekends and holidays, and contains a wonderful collection of plants and trees, numbering up to 4000 species where are located orchards and palms and the main points of attraction in the garden is the giant dragon tree in addition to the existence of different types of flowers The garden is decorated with a natural landscape and the garden opens to visitors every day from 07:30 to 17:00

Great botanical gardens, definitely worth a visit. One of the gardeners showed us to a large spider on its web which was nice until he demanded a tip for his help, it seems like everyone in this place is trying to hustle you. Apart from that it was really enjoyable.

Everyone said that these botanic gardens were amazing and they didn't disappoint. There's a huge number of different species of plants and trees (apparently over 4000) and the garden are very well laid out. You can navigate to specific areas using the map they give you with your ticket or you can just wander around at your leisure. It was pretty busy near the entrance and I was there on a Saturday but once you get out into the gardens it didn't seem all that busy and there were plenty of times I found myself more or less alone.

Great park for all ages. Good stop and sit to have lunch or a snack on a beautiful sunny day. This park has lots of tourists from all walks of life, every where in the world. Great park for photos and videos. Overall awesome park for everyone

Awesome and big botanical garden. Lots to see. Many different areas like small japanese garden, "fairytale" park etc. Nice bridge also! Beware of the dogs, i almost got bitten by them near the bridge!

Nice and spacious botanical garden, in which you can definitely spend a couple of hours even during the hotter parts of the day, as lots of shadow is provided by all the plants. Lots of monkeys running around and (fruit) bats hanging in the trees. It is also possible to hire a local guide who will explain the fauna and flora in as much detail as you wish.

What a beautiful place, even though the weather wasn't great you could really appreciate the variety and amount of plants here. And things were labeled if you were interested in knowing the names. The orchid house was stunning. Unfortunately when we went the cactus house was closed but from what we could see it looked impressive. The huge bamboos were really amazing, can't really explain how big it was. Watch out for the local couples being romantic. everywhere!

A place full of tranquility, area is so vast to be discovered by foot. I have been here many times but the only occasion i was able to cover the garden with the help of a guide. Pls take a buggy if want to cover the entire place in a day. The tips given by our buggy driver was very helpful.
