This is the highest place in Sri Lanka. This place is accessible by a private car. Road is there up to the hill. Need to take a ticket before entering. There is army barrier in where you have to fill a small form to include the details of passengers.
Highest mountain in the Sri Lanka. You can travel till peak of the mountain by your own vehicle. Road condition is very good. at top of the mountain is very cold and you will find small food shop.
Good place to visit if your in Nuwara Eliya. There is nothing special at the top other than very nice views around. The scenery on the road which leads to the mountain is beautiful ! Now any car can go up. It is around 14C in April may.
Wonderful place. You can reach top of the mountain by any 4wheeler vehicle after submitting your NIC numbers to the check point.
This is the Top place in the Srilanka..beautiful place..
Now you can reach the top of this mountain after providing some basic information to the army check point.at the top you are not allowed to go inside SLRC signal tower or air force radar centre.but you get a lovely view of the surroundings.worth the visit.no 3-wheelers or motor cycles are allowed to pass the checkpoint
It was a great experience to visit here. They are currently allowing upto 10 vehicles to enter into the summit. The drive to the summit is very scenic and the environment looks unspoilt. But it is not allowed to stop at any location and take photos. It's instructed to drive without stopping at the entrance gate. At the top there is military base and they even have a small canteen where visitors can have food. The view is a bit obstructed at the top due to fences and other barriers. But nevertheless it's a great place to travel.
A lonely 6 KM road up to the mountain, going there was an eerie yet a memorable experience. You need to have your own vehicle to go on the mountain road. they open the road from 8am to 5pm. There is an Army Base at the entrance and at the top.
Also the radar and communication center of Airport Aviation in Katunayake is also located here.
You need to know someone on the inside to get permission to see their equipment. It is interesting to see that they shoot messages to an almost 1800 km radius.
Besides this, there is nothing exceptional to see up there. but for me the winding road leading up to the place was quite enjoyable.
Definitely go to this place. This is the highest mountain in Sri Lanka and you can travel up to the Army base from your vehicle. The surroundings are marvelous. Don't get out of the car though since there's a risk of the wild animals. If you are traveling N'Eliya, this place is a must to visit.
