A better railway station with friendly station officers. If you reach Ohiya station by night mail train starting from Colombo Fort to Badulla you need to bring jackets,ice caps as the time the train reaching the station is about 4.30 A.M. Without those wearments it is not easy to bear the coldness. There are some small scale hotels near by the station and you can have String hoppers,roti and some other eating stuffs with a cup of tea or coffee.. These hotels opens oftenly at about 5 P.M. If you want you can order food packets for the lunch also. If your journey is to Bambarakanda via devil's staircase or Hortain place, Ohiya railway station may be remarkable to you.

If you are planning to visit Horton Plains, Kirigalpoththa or Devils's staircase this is the station where you need to get down. There is a road going up from here. That will lead you to above mentioned places. Well maintained station. Scenic beauty is high compared to other stations. Thank you.

The station is less busy and lonely compared to others. As it is in a boarder of the sanctuary of Horton Plains, trekkers are used to get down at Ohiya and walk up to the entrance of the Horton Plains national park. The atmosphere of the station resembles that of a natural forest reserve.

Small railway station in Sri Lanka Railways and 67th station on the main line from Colombo fort. Railway station is located between Pattipola and Idalgashinna railway stations in Badulla district in the Uva Province. Ohiya is very famous why it is on the way to horton plains. Most of times of the year temperature of Ohiya is below 10°C.

One of the road to horton place(11km to the horton place park from here), very beautiful surruonding and a very cold place. 4 trains to from badulla to colombo and another 4 from colombo to badulla go from ohiya. Have only one food shop.

Ohiya another junction for this Heavan. If your journey is to Hottan Plan get down from Ohiya. Beakers Fall, Lovers Slip, Hottan Sanchury start from here. Good country style food center available in front of the station.
