Inconvienient because its far from the road and there are either no wheels or stuffy exhorbidant tuktuks. So you take about ten minutes to walk back to civilisation. Also the station people are extra rude and there are 4 platforms and no information where the train will stop. Pathetic since this is a main tourist stop in colombo. I try never to get down here!

Main railway station situated in the southern railway line. And it is situated about 1km away from the highway and difficut for taking public transport although autos can be hired and they will charge rs 60.00 for dropping u to the main road. Situated near the mount lavinia beach and the mount lavinia hotel and it is walkable distance.

A good station with a splendid view of the Mount Lavinia beach from from the overhead bridge.
On the contrary the station has been hardly developed since it's inception in the colonial era.
The seating is very average , the toilets for the locals are quite abhorrent 😛
People at the help desk need to trained more.
New facilities have been developed for the tourists though.

Riding the train can be a lot of fun, especially when it has a beach side view to it. Great place.

Nice station alongside the epic Mount Lavinia Hotel. Best observed from the rail and hotel access bridge. Some trains don't stop there but drive through. Like the express ones.

It's bit hard to access. Jaffna train starts here at 5.00am everyday. Easiest way to get to Jaffna by public transport.
