City railway station where you can get trains to Colombo and Awissawella. Renovation process has been started in 2018 but not completed. Sanitary facilities are not up to the standard. No rest rooms. Not a clean place. So crowded in mornings and evenings.

One of the main stations you meet when travelling from Pettah to Avissawella. This railway station is very popular among school students because most of them travel via train to nugegoda for after school tuition classes. Specially the students who are doing Advanced level examination. Therefore trains are heavily crowded until Nugegoda station in weekdays in school times.

Service is admirable here. Not that much space available here. Small space place. Lot of people come here for services. Crowded place specially in the evening.
No parking space available and except few motor bicycles here. No wheelchair accessible entrance or wheelchair accessible parking available here.

It's saves huge amount of time if you choose to travel by train in mornings and evenings. But it's a basically one way travel each time. Nugegoda to Colombo in the morning and vice versa.
Google the departures for avoid inconvenience.

Compared to most railway stations this is a decent looking place. Trains going past here are full at most times. Trains are not crowded Satuday afternoon and Sunday's. Also consider using this train going out of Colombo in the morning and towards Colombo in the evening as trains are empty. Most trains run only between Fort and Awissawella.
