Thiruketheeswaram Kovil is located in Mannar. Thiruketheeswaram Kovil is an ancient one of ishwara kovils. the temple has been administered and frequented by Sri Lankan Hindu Tamils. Its famous tank, the Palavi tank, is of ancient antiquity and was restored from the ruins.

An ancient temple, Ketu, one of navagraha came here to offer prayers to lord shiva hence the name came. Actually the temple is under renovation, the Utsavarlu kept here temporarily.

Ketheeswaram temple is an ancient Hindu temple in Mannar, Northern Province Sri Lanka. Overlooking the ancient Tamil port towns of Manthai and Kudiramalai, the temple has lain in ruins, been restored, renovated and enlarged by various royals and devotees throughout its history. Tirukkētīsvaram is one of the Pancha Ishwarams dedicated to the Hindu deity Shiva and is venerated by Shaivas throughout the continent. Throughout its history, the temple has been administered and frequented by Sri Lankan Hindu Tamils. Its famous tank, the Palavi tank, is of ancient antiquity and was restored from the ruins. Tirukkētīsvaram is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams of Shiva glorified in the poems of the Tevaram.

A holy temple of Lord Siva. I loved the Pooja. It was really brought me up to another level. Pooja timings are 8am, 12pm and 7pm everyday. Temple will be open from 6am to 1pm and 5pm to 7pm.

Dedicated to Lord Shiva, The temple is a wonder in itself and definitely worth a visit if you have a morsel of interest in History! It is indeed, poetry in stone.

One of the historically famous and ancient kovil in Sri Lanka. Now a days this kovil is under going through a major renovation work. So now public are not allowed to enter inside of it. However, you can see the idols at the front. During the night time this place is so dark with out any outdoor lighting facilities.
