Nice temple with a large buddha statue. Also there are few hindu temples inside the temple area. Usually it's a crowded place.

Huge Buddha statue is the highlight of this place. And a typical Buddhist environment. So many expatriates visiting, as far as I know not much history in this location. But good place for a stop if you are visiting the country. Better if you can wear modest clothing (for both gender) if not there are clothes you can take and wear SriLankan style sarong which nice to try if u r a foreigner.

"Kande Viharaya" seeing at the name, u can imagine the geographical view of this temple. Since im a catholic , still I love to sit in front of this Buddha statue and have a mediation, because that calms my mind. This temple takes special attraction among the both foreigners and local visitors. But sadly I saw lots of couples are there. Im not saying that its wrong but have to behave well. even there are notice boards saying so. Its totally inappropriate and disturbance to other people who comes there to warship.

Really nice temple with a humongous sized buddha statue (largest one in Asia!). Can see the buddha welcoming us with his peaceful smile as we start going down the road leading to the temple.

Filled with locals and tourists, we can find people offering flowers and fresh cut fruits as offerings. When we went, there were also a couple of priests involved in chants that was joined by others as well.

You can easily take a tuktuk to reach this place from nearby beaches/hotels.

People are very co-operative. Anyone can enter to this Temple. Most Valuable place in srilanka. As a Traveller this place is very useful.

A very beautiful temple and before the entrance you can buy all sorts of flowers, oil and incence if you would like to sacrifice while praying. The temple-elephant didn't seem so happy though

An ancient Buddhist temple. There is a short drive from the main road. It is best to drive the vehicle to the top of the hill as there is a fairly steep walk.

With the stories behind, “Kande Viharaya” Buddhist temple is scared place among locals. You can see a gigantic statue, where Buddha stand-in “Bhoomisparsha Mudra”. If you visit this temple, I would say early morning is the best time. Then you can reach the religious and nature of this archeologically protected mountain. I have been to this temple so many times, in the morning and I know the true feeling of it.

This temple is very beautiful and enriched with many historical stories always crowded and after 7.00pm on weekdays is less crowded and this is the best time to visit it At this time it is very silent and calm Good place to do Meditate in front of the the large biddha statue at this time
