Beautiful view you can watch elephants from your room or dining .. beautiful pool. Nice place to stay around pinnawala.
Very nice calm place with marvellous view of elephants bathing and also an awsome pool 😍
* One of the Best Place to Watch elephant Bath @ Maha-Oya.
* Rooms with beautiful river view (Depends)
* Staff is friendly & Negotiable.
* Nice & Clam Place , Very Relaxing.
* Pool , function Hall & Spacious dining area.
- Rooms are smaller & bit untidy for the price.
- Food is ok but pricey.
* However a place worth visit specially for travelers.
I recently stayed at the hotel for two nights. My body is still trying to recover from those beds as every morning I felt I had been in a car accident. The blood stained sheets would think you were in one.
If you do stay there opt not to have the breakfast.. not just to save yourself from the food but also the dining area. Stains on the carpets and linen are greeting you before you even sit to eat. The food is undercooked and has flies buzzing around . If you like a slimey omelette then look no further.. this is the place!
Upon entering, the entrance from outside looks like this is a beautiful hotel. Walk in and you are greeted with a, I can only assume is the manager, twitching and biting as he speaks person. He told us we had to pay cash right away for our stay. We asked if we could pay by card which we were told that the machine wasn’t working due to the storm. But we still couldn’t go to our rooms until we paid upfront.
After finding an ATM and paying, we head to our rooms noticing the cameras. Which I’m sure are there to make sure no one cleans.
I could go on.. but I fear I would be writing a novel of this place.
Only positive would be the view and pool.
Horrible experience at a hotel that has the ability to be an amazing hotel.
The hotel is a little old and not all that well maintained from the outside, but they have just renovated the bathrooms. Shower is great and hot, beds are good and rooms are clean. Staff is super friendly and apart from all this; the view is amazing! In the morning you'll be in front row to see the elephants from the orphanage across the street bading.
If it's not for this view you will only get a one star, the view doesn't belong to you and your service have nothing to do with it. Extremely simple room for the price, at least they have a simple TV and satellite, the whole room stinks like sewage (so strong that we feel sick) and full of mosquitoes(this one I could understand). The swimming pool is the most disgusting I ever seen, from the 1sr floor it looks okay but when I saw it from the 3rd our balcony, oh God u cannot see the bottom of the pool because the water is so dirty, the insect floating on the water near the circulation hole is not moving that means the water is not going in and out, every morning the staff use some hose to suck out the dirts in the pool, and welcome another whole new day and whole new customers cos they know m no one will stay here more than 2 nights.
The place is a little bit far from the bathing point, better go to Hotel Elephant Park.
For now, not recommended.
Take it as your advantage and make it a better place, somehow I like your place, it has potential, wish u a better future.
Front office, house keeping to be improved. Wash room stinking ! Excellent location for tourists. Pools are not skimmed properly and doubt filtration system malfunction. Restsurant and foos great !! Please find perfect solution who depends on taxis. Got to pay double than room rent if you take taxi here !!!
Very convenient place, hot water and nice room .. the hotel is just right in the spot of the Elephants bay!!! :)
Nice view of the elephant bathing in the river. Good food and courteous staff
The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel surprisingly spacious. The rooms at first glance looked good too, but revealed to be problematic due to inadequate/missing toiletries, TVs that were not working properly and missing mirrors and clothes racks. The food was mediocre and overpriced with a very small selection. The staff took away our plates while having dinner as they were eager to leave and closed kitchen prior to finalizing our orders. Although it is a rule implemented by the government, the hotel cannot be accessed between 8 am to 4 pm without tickets to the Pinnawala Orphanage which I feel is quite outrageous. The road leading upto the hotel is quite narrow and underdeveloped and not at all suitable as a hotel's entrance. The best aspect of staying at this hotel is the spectacular view of the river and the elephants at play right below the rooms.
Decent hotel.. average food fair rooms good customer service.
Good hotel .nice kindly and friendly service .superb location .good food
I am so glad to review this place, one of the best hotel i have visited amazing view ,natural views , have great memories associated with this hotel of my Sri Lanka trip
Lovely place. Great rooms. Excellent service. They made special break fast for us.
Beautiful view can look elepants closer..
It has best view of watching bath elephant.
Nice rooms, great beds and wonderful breakfasts
Good location for working on Kegalle. Internet in lobby and restaurant outdoors works well. Great views and scenery. Spartan but adequate rooms and services. Sri Lankan food is great but the international food isn't all that, so stick with local if you can.
The view is spectacular, the hotel is not. The breakfast was completely inedible; pineapple juice tasted of garlic, tea was overbrewed and bitter, the omelette might have been made from powdered eggs. We were not offered curry, but a nearby table seemed to be having a better time of it with their curry breakfast and fresh fruit. The perils of being a westerneroverpriced and tasteless.
