A must see place. you will witness historical weapons & maritime equipment. Hoods Tower is a place to see the beauty of the trinco bay too.
Very nice place which exhibits history..
It is a good place to visit with Kids. There are three big Artillery Guns which were used in colonial era in Sri Lanka including lot of old and historical weapons and military medical equipment. Boat engines, general workshop equipment and Craft which used by LTTE too available for watching. You can visit underground old Bunkers which used to keep Artillery. This is well maintained place. You have to pay nominal entry fee and you are accompanied by a Navy officer.
Museum had a big collection. Things we have never seen. Navy Officer explained them one by one which was very useful. view from the tower was amazing. We could see the whole area from there. I think that is the only tower in that area. Museum set up is good. Had under ground section as well. Saw many boats and vehicles used by lTTE. It was worth watching.
Nice place to spend your stay in Trincomalee. As it is controlled under navy, they give a full informative description about the museum and the importance of the Trincomalee as a naval way point.
This is the largest navy camp in the Sri Lanka. This is much valuable place in our country and every one must be gone to this place.. When you gose to trincomalee never miss these valuable place.. Before you go to this base you have to get permission.. Don't forget about it.
The Hoods Tower is a naval museum of the Sri Lanka Navy in Trincomalee.
Nice tidy place. Well organised.
A museum with lots of things to watch. To visit this place you should have the permission from SL Navy and you can request permission by sending a letter. It's good to send it 8, 10 days before you visit.
Here you can see war memorials from british era to war in which LTTE loose.

Worth visiting for sure. Nice view on China Bay and islands. Interesting visit thanks to our army guide (speaks English) who participated in some of the missions on show. Consider 2 hours.
Nice and historical place to visit. Can see beauty of Indian ocean
This is a great place to go if you get the chance. If you do want to go there is a small charge, just over £5 so not too expensive. You need to ring up to make an appointment to go and you also need to take your passport with you. When you get there you will be escorted all the way through the navy base to the museum. It's worth it just for this because the base is huge - I think it's about 3km to the museum. The museum itself is quite interesting although a lot of the things on show are quite recent from the Tamil Tigers and the civil war. I still highly recommend it though. The massive gun placements are still there and they still spin if you push them.
