  Hawagala is a great place for a one day hiking from colombo. Use 99 badulla bus and get down near badulla rest house. Then get a bus to landuyaya and get down at laduyaya junction near shop. Right near shop route is starting. Jungle is heavily armed by leeches. So many small water streams can be found. On top, there are plenty of places to do a camp night.

  Wonderful campsite. Take lots of water, the nearest source of drinkable water is approx. 1km from the top.

  Its not a difficult hike. Do not try to camping there. Because it is highly prohibited. There are few paths to go the peak. I recommend you to go through the landuyaya village. that path is safe n easy.
  
  You can get on the Landuyaya bus from the Galagama town. There is a bus on 8 am. It is perfect for your journey. You can get off from the bus at the end point of bus. There is a little grocery shop. you can get more information from that shop n villagers. They are very friendly and helpful people❤️.The owner of that shop give us salt for leaches attack without taking money.🙏
  
  The last bus from landuyaya to Balangoda on 5 05 pm. you should catch that bus. But it is not difficult. Hike will take maximum 2 30 hrs. please be careful when you are selecting foot paths in the jungle on your journey.
  
  There is a safe bathing pot near to the village shop.You should pass that place on your journey so dont worry to find that place.
  
  Special thing is about CHOOTY❤️ She is a nice little dog.If she is on good health condition she will guide you to the top. 😍 she is very friendly with travelers.the shop wich i mention above is the home of chooty.You can ask about chooty from them.

  Nice mountain gives a amazing hike. On the top the view is breathtaking. You can camp and spend the night. If you er lucky the milky way can be visible over the heads. Amazing place but if you happen to visit there do not put waste and polythene there. Do not destroy the beauty
