    A main railway station built in colonial era of Sri Lanka in 1873. All the train will stop here. You may take direct trains to Colombo, Kandy / Matale, Nawalapitiya / Nanu Oya / Ella / Badulla. With transit you may reach all stations in whole SL Railway network.

    Gampola is a place which is 128km from Colombo. Main road available to Gampola via Peradeniya and about 20km to Gampola from Peradeniya. Main railway station of Upcountry railway tour is called Gampola. Because of main railway station evry trains stop at Gampola railway station. Number of platforms available in Gampola. After passing Gampola railway staion beautiest Sri Lanka up country arrived. After passing Gampola both sides of the railway has beautifula places.
    Main road and railway travels parellely to Hatton from Gampola but some palces have to passed is diffrent. Observation saloon is most suitable to travel by train to up country.

    It is an important railway station in railway history. It has been submerged in several floodings, the water levels of each flood is marked on a wall in the premises.
    It is located just below the famous ambuluwawa.

    Gampola railway station is a famous station in Sri Lanka Railways and 48th station on the Main line from Colombo fort. Gampola was capital of the Gampola kingdom which one of the ancient kingdom of Sri Lanka around 1300-1400 AD.There are many Temples, ancient stone scripts and monuments in the City that reflects the rich historical legacy of the Gampola Era. So the Visitors can find many interesting places and monuments belonging to that period.

    Average facilities available for travellers, currently developing with new platform as 2nd. There is a flood level scale which shows the historical floods affected the town.

    Located about 125 km from Colombo, on the Colombo - Badulla railway line, Gampola is a main junction town. From here, one can travel to Nuwaraeliya, Hemmathagama, Kadugannawa, Dolasbage, Nawalapitiya via dirrect routes.

    A station in the up-country railway line. It took an important role during the period tea transport done by train The longest sleeping Buddha statue in South Asia is located in Gampola, in the Saliyalapura Temple
