This is a hostel, but also has private rooms for 70USD.
It makes travelling really fun when you find like minded people sharing the place you stay in. Just next to hostel is a bar/pub (really great experience there too).
They provide with air-conditioning in rooms, towels and soap and shampoo and all that stuff people tend to forget on short trips.

Top notch hospitality for their new guests, from the receptionist, to the managers and even the security staff!

There is a money exchange nearby, however rates are not good.
Places to eat: didn't try many but one of the nearby restaurants, it's decent.

Before i choose to stay in this accommodation i thought for a short stay this will be very costly and how the distance and cleanliness. I always think about the hygienic while stay in shared accommodation. But this is really fantastic accommodation in the shared.. Very hygienic rest rooms and bath room. Sophisticated bed and bed spreads and have the safety lockers. Easy to reach colombo fort station and bus station .. Near to twin tower, beach, Bank of Ceylon headquarters and tourist spots. Receptionists are very soft and helpful in all occasions.

Cityrest - Fort, is a hostel targeting tourists that also features a 24/7 indoor homemade ice cream stall. On a recommendation of a colleague, a bunch of friends and I dropped by the place for a midnight snack. The spot features a nice selection of flavors: Hazelnut, Duriyan, Nougat, Coconut and a few more. Unfortunately, they did not have all the flavors at the time we visited, but the ice-cream boasted a pleasant rich & creamy homemade taste to it - which we liked. Parking can be an issue in the narrow alleyways surrounding the place.

Decent hostel in a great part of the city. Lots of resources and services and really good breakfast. They’re a bit stingy with keycards (they give one per reservation instead of per person) and have a weird security system (I was rarely asked if I live in the hostel and could just walk in sometimes, rooms were normally kept unlocked because of the keycard situation). Rooms are well equipped and air conditioned and facilities are in good condition though.

I was really impressed with this hotel/hostel and it made my last few days in Sri Lanka very comfortable. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful with all my questions. I checked in at 4am after getting off an overnight train and that wasn't a problem for them at all as they have a 24 hour reception (I did email them before hand so they knew my arrival time). I was greeted with a cool towel and drink at checkin which was very nice. The rooms were very nice with great air con, power points next to each bed and security lockers. Bathrooms, showers and toilets were also good and kept mostly clean and they were plentiful so there was never a wait. The breakfast really blew me away as I'd gotten used to pretty standard toast, jam and fruit in hostels across the rest of the country but City Rest had around 7 yummy hot dishes including sausages, scrambled eggs, mashed potato, fried rice, daal curry and more. They also had fruit and fruit juices, an array of teas, cereals with milk and toast and jam. The only thing missing was the opportunity to meet other travellers. You would see people at breakfast and perhaps hanging out in the lobby but the vibe was more hotelly than hostelly for that. However, I knew that ahead of time from the ratings on hostelworld so I wasn't expecting anything else.

The hostel is very conveniently located at the dutch hospital. All the bars and food outlets are in the vicinity. The rooms are clean and does justice to the price. The icecreams they serve are just what the doctor ordered to combat the colombo heat.

Great staff, good mostly veg breakfast, mostly clean facilities. GREAT LOCATION.

But for whatever there a bunch of budget idiot college party kids magnetized to this place. All separate rooms, not together. They're loud and inconsiderate in and out of the room. Bali and Cancun are the other way.
