Pros
Very old hotel and very nice experience. Rooms are very old fashioned and it seems the bathrooms have same old fittings. So it is a different kind of experience compared to other hotels. The hotels is situated center of the city and you have access to everything.
Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Food is ok and tasty
Cons
The rooms are not sound proof and the people in corridors can hear what you are talking in side the room
No satellite TVs and you must bring some books if you are planning to spend the evening in the hotel.
Had a dinner and breakfast buffet but the variety of the food is poor.
No Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room but the hotel serves bed tea or coffee in the morning.
No mosquito nets and we had kill mosquitoes in the middle of the nightresponse / report this review -

Today we had our lunch in this hotel. The staff attended us well and the food is awesome. The crab gravy and they had typical Srilankan food which is mouth watering taste. Do visit this place and enjoy the taste of the food.

Service Staff. Friendly
Bedroom equipped with Fan and Multi Channel TV
Bathroom provided with towels, liquid soap and toilet paper.
Cleaning OK.
Poor WiFi, always disconnecting, good for Chat not for Youtube.
Blackout at 10pm until 3am, many Brownout before.
We hear the generator working.
Music band play oldie English song from 8 to 9pm .
Nice Western and Chinese Style buffet breakfast.

WARNING FOR LOCAL GUIDES: Unless you are desperate, it would be advisable to avoid visiting Bandarawela Resthouse. Accommodation and meals aren't very good! This isn't an issue on the matter of service given to your foreign client. It's for your best interest.

Fantastic view. Beautiful landscape. Nice walking path. Cottages are also not bad. Service is not bad but lot to improve. Foods are also satisfactory. Large ground is a nice play area.

This hotel is located in the middle of the Bandarawela town. it has a colonial look and hotel tries its best to preserve that oldish look. rooms were good and the service was very good. we enjoyed the food and overall it was a good experience. it is good to have a electric kettle in the room.

This is a colonial styled house converted to a hotel replete with old world charm. The local food served is par excellence. All furnishings in the bed rooms are antique and have been retained to meet Tourist Board regulations.
They also have a pub and a pool table.
Customer service is very good.

Came here for lunch only. Ordered a chicken curry and out came six dishes (five vegetable dishes). Big portions and I thought it was quite tasty too.

It's a Colonial Hotel established in 1893. I must place to visit if one comes to Bandarawela. Had breakfast here and enjoyed a good intercontinental buffet at very reasonable price.
