The stay is BEST budget traveller. Stayed there for two days. The rooms are liveable but not very clean.

Was part of private driver package from Negombo. But got bumped to crummier "hotel" room a block away. "256 Townhouse Rest" has gone downhill compared to photos and advertising. Service and helpfulness were very nice as typical Sri Lanka, and free breakfast was okay (omelet and fresh fruit) but experience was too uncomfortable overall. Next time will not trust tour operator, and will pay a little more to be in downtown. I suggest that you have tour operator specify hotels so you can check out their rating first before paying for package.

Formerly known famously as "Candy Corner". Their cafe is a perfect place to have a snack and chat with a friend. You can sit on the side chars at the cafe entrance to have quick snack and go, or to spend some time you can go upstairs where tables are available and not usually crowded.

Make sure you don't be loud when you're upstairs as it may disturb the guests staying in the rooms and the owners too, who live on site. If you be loud, theirs a chance that the owners might come and blame you for that. So it's not a good place to visit as groups and do get togethers.

Their food tastes good and is in good quality. They also serve meals too.

We arrived around 7:30 pm and the room wasn't even ready we had to wait for almost 40min.
The room wasn't very clean.
And most of all very noisy because of the proximity of a busy road.
