I went diving with Poseidon after nine years without diving. They gave me a thorough refresher and check dive. I had four dives with them over two days. Very enjoyable.

Important to know:
All dive centers at Nilaveli Beach are closed from approximately October to April (check their websites in advance).
At this time there is no season for scuba diving and it is only possible to go snorkeling at Pigeon Island (~8500 LKR/ person - boat there and back, equipment and ticket for the Pigeon Island National Park included).response / report this review -

Very Proffessional outfit. We did the intro diving, our instructor Chanu was very good. Systematically took us through the equipment and training. Loved the experience. Friendly bunch of folks!
They didn't have cameras or GoPro to document our dive, so best to carry own. I would have docked a star for it, but my diving experience was very good so 5 stars!response / report this review -

In our opinion a little bit too chilled We booked a diving day at poseidon diving center. The meeting was at 8:30 a.m. As we got our equipment we realized it is worn-out and quite old. Two divers including me had problems with the equipment. The tubes were leaking so I had to change my tubes out in the sea. Also the dive was not really spectacular, the dive master was just diving and never had the effort to look for specials animals or corals. All in all there was not much to see then a lot of corals. After the dive we could "enjoy" pigeon island. The small island is crowded with a lot of people even it should be a national park (entrance fee 2700 rupies per person). There are two snorkeling spots. at one of them you can see riffsharks. We saw more coulerful fishes while snorkeling then during the dive. We would recommend to go to the island with one of the boats on the beach and just go for snorkeling.

Great diving school! We did the Padi open water and the whole team was fun and professional. Our instructor Chanu made us feel very safe, we trusted him completely. Totally recommend!
