This Island consists of a temple and it is connected to beach through a metalic bridge. There's nothing special about this place except for the picturesque views you can have from the island since it is located in the middle of the sea,few miles away from the land.

A temple located surrounded by a nice beach. Best time to visit in the evening because during day time temperature will be so hot

The bridge is nice, as well as the view from the top. However, the temple is just an empty room with some allegedly boy-monks that want to be paid to bless you. Even if you're in front of it, it doesn't worth a visit.

Matara, despite being a distance away from the island’s commercial capital of Colombo, is still a major city, and is a commercial hub of her own accord, containing lucrative locales such as We Escape a luxurious Weligama hotel, Sri Lanka has to offer.

Despite the many wonders in store in and around the Southern coastal town of Matara, perhaps the most awe-inspiring is the Paravi Duwa Buddhist Temple. The temple is not an ancient one, and in fact it was built quite recently. The temple is situated on a tiny off-shore islet known as ‘Pigeon island’, and is reached through a scenic foot-bridge that was recently replaced after the original one was destroyed by the 2004 Tsunami.

The place and the island are very nice but the temple itself is very basic. It's OK when you are already in town for a visit but definitely not worth to go there because of the temple.

This is situated near the main bus stand in Matara. No vehicles can be driven through the bridge. The temple is under construction, building a new Chaithya (Stupa). Great views of sea behind the temple

Nice place to visit and worship. People say couples are not allowed due to some misbehaving of people who visited earlier. Keep in mind to respect this valuable place when you get there. Lets visit, enjoy and protect it for future generations.

The whole island consists of a temple. Some parts are still under construction. A very beautiful place over looking the sea. Very popular with tourists.
