Really nice service, the receptionist is so friendly, helpful and fluent in English. Definitely stay here if I visit Laos again

If I could have given this hotel 0 stars I would have. BED BUGS!
It looks nothing like the photo's and is now extremely run down, very dirty, broken locks on room doors, mould and damp on the walls, broken toilets, murky dirty pool.
I booked here for 2 nights on the 2nd May 2018 and checked out a night early as the bed was infested with BED BUGS! I tried to write a review of my stay on the booking website but the hotel changed my booking without my consent to a date in October so that I am unable to leave a review.
Please do not make the same mistake I made and believe many of the good reviews, I really think many of these are posted by the hotel. The staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful.
This hotel was one of the WORST places I've stayed at in 4 months backpacking around South East Asia. There are so many better places in Vientiane for the same price or less, which are clean and where you will not be eaten alive by bed bugs. The pool swayed me, but when I got there it was so dirty I never used it.response / report this review -

I booked for the 3rd time as my previous experiences where good. Now this place turned into something different. Despite having a new pool it's filthy! Breakfast from 6:30-9:30. Don't come at 9am as you will be served cereal with NO MILK. Coffee with NO MILK. EGGS run out. Wastebins throughout the garden full for days.

Right in the middle of town. Filipino staff is very friendly. Breakfast inclusive; the congee is very tasty. The keycard however to activate the electricity in my room was extremely unreliable.

Comfortable and clean with reasonable basic breakfast selection, however, hotel has some issues.
1. We were blessed to share our stay with an american rugby team who were rowdy & very distruptive until 2 or 3 in the morning. To be fair the hotel stopped the noise after the first night.
2. We booked a 9.30 minivan ticket to our next destination 2 days in advance . On the day of departure a number of other guests who had booked days after us got on the bus. The bus was full so the hotel made us wait 4 hrs until the 13.30 bus which took over 5hrs to reach our destination. They refused to pay for a taxi but did refund our fare.
3. If you wait for change for purchases in the hotel it can take 3 days to get it. I have to wonder if they hope guests will just forget.response / report this review -

A boutique hotel with great value indeed. If you have time you can spend a week here with your family. It is lovely to start your day by having breakfast in the court yard. If you have no knowledge of colonial buildings, this hotel shows you some features.The swimming pool is good for kids n sunbathing. Due to hot weather, sightseeing in the morning n evening, leisure time in the afternoon. A variety of bars n restaurants are within walking distance. Use Bahts is much more handy as the Kips are of no use upon departure from Laos.

A nicely located hotel with a pleasant atmosphere. I enjoyed my stay here. The hotel has a tropical feel to it and many plants are found on the premises. The fresh coffee and breakfast in the morning was a nice touch. My hot water heater was imperfect, but not too bad. Most importantly, I arrived deathly ill and they found me a room to check-into earlier than normal. Much appreciated.

We loved it here. The pool has just been finished and is a real treat in a hotel so well placed and reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfasts were the best we've had in SE Asia. Rooms were clean, though the whole place could do with a lick of paint. Would highly recommend.

The location was very good and cost effective hotel. I really appreciate for all staff members' hospitality. We can go any where soon less than 10 min, and the breakfast was very nice. We could have Lao style meals with bread, soup, cereals, fruits, and coffees as well. Moreover, Wifi connection was very nice, even though most of stores and hotels in Laos have bad internet facilities. Highly recommended hotel in Vientiane!

Booked a deluxe double room but it was very small and dark. Was also a bit rough around the edges nothing major, just things like loose fittings, broken tiles, etc., but the guest house was kept clean the bed was comfortable and the air con was good.
Options for breakfast varied every day but selection was decent - cereal, boiled eggs, fruit, pancakes, rice porridge, noodle soup, and salad are a few of the options I remember. If you're ordering fruit salad the portion sizes are small. Breakfast was served in a nice courtyard in the centre of the guest house which was very relaxing.
WiFi was absolutely terrible. We moved on the first night to the room just next to the router and it was still barely working. We stayed here for 3 nights and by the third day I didn't even try and use the WiFi because it was so poor!response / report this review -

Vientiane opens up to tourism, and there are now many hotels / guest houses. For the tourists who have passed through Thailand, prices seem expensive, or even very expensive.
The big hotels are really overpriced, and the most modest also, considering the quality.
Mali Namphu is a smart choice. Affordable, from 18 to 30 € depending on the room (2 categories), and the season.
The price difference is not very high, and I recommend the "deluxe" rooms facing the back on the lovely inner courtyard.
The rooms are clean, the wifi efficient (rooms and courtyard), and the breakfast is not gourmet, but pleasant.
The location is really good. It is possible to visit the city on foot from the hotel, very central. Many tuk tuk are available, and the hotel rents electric bikes and scooters.
Mali Namphu does not have a restaurant (only breakfast), but you will find many pleasant restaurants nearby.response / report this review -

Very good location and it has a nice courtyard. Could be a very nice place with a bit of effort. like a lot of places in SE Asia poor maintenance let it down. Dodgy toilet seat and mozzies in room.

Should be a nice place. Actually a nice old building but.
- noise because of construction and renovation all day long
- small breakfast
- staff doesn't care about you.
Beside that, rooms are small and old with bad smell. Bed is really painful for the back (you can feel the bumpers inside). Bathroom is not clean and neat.
