Praktisch keine Besucher.
While your at wat phu, you can walk a bit further to this ruined temple.
Hong Nang Sida temple (11th to the beginning of 12th century AD), which is situated 1.5 km south of Vat Phou. The whole tower has been collapsed, and the base of it is presently buried under large stones of its superstructure. The Temple is enclosed by a precinct wall, within which there are also a number of minor buildings.
Hong Nang Sida temple is, however, a part of much larger planned layout, still largely visible on the ground. At the core of the layout, to the east of the Temple, is a square area, delimited by water channels and subdivided also by water channels into four quarters. This complex is probably an Angkorian urban settlement succeeding pre-Angkorian Ancient City on the bank of the Mekong.
