Not the Mövenpick you know. I think this one is 4 star. The location is bad, it's inside the port. The furniture and food are clean but very standard.

Perfect staycation at the Movenpick Shuwaik. My family had a lovely time. the property and the room were pristine and the staff were fabulous. Joyce and princess at the reception were wonderful, friendly and hospitable, they us feel welcome and taken care off. Ivy at the Tea lounge was so amazing. The breakfast and iftar were delicious and we will definitely recommend to friends. Also loved the amazing artwork through the hotel that represented the culture and heritage of Kuwait. Bravo!

I was on a business trip and brought my wife and infant . We stayed there for consecitive two months and it was really a nice experience.The staff is polite and humble. Housekeeping is efficient and very professional.Specially Harinakshi who attended my wife and her needs very proactively(specially when you are alone with a baby). Location is away from town but hotel provides shuttle service day and night to famous malls and shopping areas. Hotel attractions like pool.. Restaurants.. Garden.. Fountains n lobby area were really good for the baby to stroll in mornings and evenings. If you have a family with kids, its a best place to stay in. Driver sheikh was very friendly and made our day today travel really exciting by educating us about locale and tourist spots. Overall exeprience was excellent.
Pros: a) Helpful and professional staff .
B) Pool and gym were part of our daily routine
C) Complimentary evening sweets and delicious cookies
D) swing in the balcony area where my baby loved to sleep and enjoy his view
Cons:
A) No attached kitchens provided for people who stay for a longer duration. Rooms with kitchen should be encouraged
B) Pungent smell from a chemical industry nearby which is difficult to ignore sometimes
C) Restaurant is very expensive for daily intake. Complimentary breakfast or dinner should be provided to people who stay for more than a week.response / report this review -

very close the Health City area (Al-Sabah) and therefore very practical.
Very nice, professional staff.
Pretty old-style but with acceptable value-for-money.

Mövenpick is the only hotel that agreed to arrange visas for us. All other previously reserved hotels had to be canceled, because no other hotel wanted or could make a visa. We arrived very late - at around 01:45 a.m. and had to wait for half an hour for our transfer taxi. We arranged it well in advance and someone from the hotel was waiting for us at the airport but then we had to wait for a car. Where was the car before - only God knows. The hotel itself has seen better times. It looks good though but not new anymore. Breakfast is around 25$, which is expensive. You can have lunch or dinner in one of three restaurants. The area is big, it has a pool but no one swims in this pool. The hotel is situated in the area, where they build something all the time. We were allowed to stay till 2 p.m., thanks for that to the hotel. We also got an upgrade to a nicer room with a better view, according to a guy at the reception. The doors in the hotel were closing very loud. If someone was leaving or coming to a room, you could hear it. Very friendly personnel at the reception.

The reception team are very helpful and kind as well as cleaning team. The free shuttle bus to the city center is interesting. That was my second stay in this hotel and I will not hesitate to repeat once again.

Our stay was made significantly better due to the interactions with the very professional inhouse staff. The one on one professionalism and care always makes the greatest difference.
Thanks especially to front office and reception staff JOYCE and SURYA who were willing to explain and help us with information that we would have had difficulty finding regarding necessary travel and support for our work schedule.

Starting from the beginning! When I arrived at the hotel, I asked for a valet parking since it’s a 5 stars hotel and the answer was “ unfortunately no one here to take the car, please park it by your self”🙂 when I went to the reception I found out that the workers were not skilled enough to serve their guests. After that when we went to the room we tried to open the room but it doesn’t work, so we asked to change the key and it happened again. The sent us someone to fix it while we were praying. The bomb was they opened the door without knocking it. Don’t you think that something strange?? We asked to change the room and they did but the new room was new painted and the smell was horrible so we stayed in our room and we forced to ask them to open the room for us every single time we go to the hotel. One more thing that we are not smokers, one day we gave it to them to park it , we smelled cigarets in the car.
I don’t recommend this hotel and in my rating I’m not giving them more than one star.response / report this review -

the hotel itself looks a little old but the facility is very good. the stuff are amazing. breakfast hall is excellent, the only think you need is to put tissues on the tables.

I will start from the reception desk
Meet and great is good but the guest information is not clear and varied from one staff to another , not clear and even they are not aware about guest reservation packages . Slow and not that much skilled to deal with their guest. Not handling quires and questions properly .
They ignore that the breakfast included in our reservation and when they came to fix after we informed and discussed with them why they inform us in the check in time that the breakfast is not included and they confirm when we double check depends on our booking they said not included again.!!
Since it’s a 5 star hotel , The room is wide with sufficient space, on the other hand the furnitures is smelly ,very old same with hotel building , amenities quality is zero for me .although the reservation for 2 persons each room they only provided amenities for one guest , again we inform them with that but no one take any actions to increase . Towels , bath robe , bed sheets is very old needs refresh. WC was not flashing well , No iron table in the room and when we request they did not provided , as they stated that they do not have.
The hotel smell very bad especially at morning there is sewage smell mixed with cooking smell spread all over corridors and rooms.
They serve food In Avery careless way with skill less people. Not good trolly available even if the food is much.
House keeping staff is good and helpful. Food quality is good for certain point,
I will not recommended this hotel to any of my friends or family at all.
I can rated my stay with family in that hotel by very low value and not satisfied with it at all. The values of the money I paid against services is zero if not less.

The Hotel is ok for 2 or 3 days, old but clean and helpful staff members. Outdoor área is quite ok also for kids.
Food is very good. Ask for a discount sometimes or most of the times you will get one, they gave me a 20% voucher.
Hard to find without GPS if you are driving. Free parking.
Breakfast is very good. No soy milk or alternative milk available.

Unusual hotel in the industrial port area. Old worldly charm is very unusual in the GCC, and this hotel sort of pulls it off. Definitely would benefit from renovation. Keen capable staff and three restaurants. Avoid the Cuts Brazilian as meat overcooked and poorly served. Nice pool.

Good place.. not wow.. I recommend the Italian resturant. The area surrounding the hotel is almost dead and nothing close to anything as its within Kuwait Free Trade Zone.

Bit run down place, while not far away from city. Quiet a few tourists, mostly business. HVAC shall be maintained, as odd smell. Rooms are OK. I assume that after construction of the bridge and roads will be completed it become more lively. Has nice views and is very quiet around. Few restaurants and coffee shops in vicinity within Trade Zone.

Good things: room was clean and quiet & the food is really nice and tasty
Bad things:
1. pool area is small. I came with my husband to celebrate his b-day here. We wanted to sit by the pool, away from the splashing kids, but some of the guests found this thing very disturbing and they were very rude, but this is not the fault of the hotel. The hotel's fault is that they dont provide enough chairs and space for the people that come here to relax and enjoy the weekend.
2. After 6 pm there is no life guard and you are allowed to be in the water until MAX. 8 pm,so if you want to enjoy an evening chill swim,without anyone disturbing you, you cannot, because you dont have towels and of course you are not allowed. Not to mention that there is NO WAY for you to drown because the water doesnt go deeper than 155-160cm. WHAT IS THIS?!
3. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, it doesnt have anything close, sooo it's very, very, very hard to find a taxi!

The hotel was used purely for business. The room was clean. My particular room was down a long corridor next to a restaurant which was noisy. The minibar was empty and i had to unplug the fridge as it buzzed all night. The hotel is not in the most salubrious part of Kuwait but it seemed popular with locals. The gym is basic as is the outdoor pool. The buffet was good with plenty of choices.

I had a bad experience with this hotel.
I asked the hotel to get me a visa to enter Kuwait, which they did quickly, but after they gave me the visa they informed me that they apologize for not having empty rooms anymore !!!
I tried my best with them to find a solution and they informed me that there is nothing they can do then I asked them to give me the visa and allow me to stay in another hotel but they refused to give it to me the company I wanted to visit in Kuwait also contacted the Hotel and even reached the General Manager of the hotel, and the best thing they could do is that they will make sure to find an empty room for me but not for my German colleague who accompanied me in this trip, so I had to stay in Movenpick and my colleague in another hotel.response / report this review -
