The sunset here is definitely overrated, you have to queue for hours and it goes down behind some trees, Angkor Wat is on the opposite side. There are other, nicer temples to visit. The view over the landscape was nice, though.

Nice place with tons of tourists. Tuktuk is around 7 US from the city come before 5pm and bring enough water as it is really hot on the stones. Only 300 people are allowed on top and the Chinese are crazy.so be earlier than them
Women only with covered shoulders and knees. Men covered shoulders and knees. There are many controls.
It's nice thoughbut really stuffed with people.

Nice view over the landscape, but the sunset is overrated.
Most of the people do not realize actually the view to Angkor Wat on the oposite side. With a 400mm objective and good weather conditions you are able to shoot nice photos from Angkor Wat residing in the jungle.

They restrict the entrance to 300 people at a time. You will be safe to enter when coming around 4pm.

It is a pity that tourists are still riding elephants! It is an easy 15 min walk to go to the top

We actually enjoyed Phnom Bakheng's sunset. The site is limited for a number of people only (counted using IDs). The hike up was actually tiresome as it was high up but fun especially if with your friends. You need to get a good spot but you have to be there early since it gets crowded by 5pm. For us, we found an alternative spot where we watched the sunset and took pictures.

It was amazing, it is a testament to men ingeniosity. To think that these temples were built so long ago and they are still standing, it is also a testament to the faith (Buddhism and Hinduism); Kampuchea (Cambodia) has been influenced by both. Individuals from India, China, Taiwan, Thailand, are still visiting, it is a holy sight for them.

The temple is full of security guard who keep control and arrange the amount of people to climb up the temple make sure there is not over weight, because the temple is too old already and under renovation. I tell you, you have to go early if not you can not climb up the temple. Because there are lots of people, very crowdedyou have to wait in queue.

My girlfriend and I went to Phnom Bakheng to see the sunset, since this temple-mountain is ‘the’ top spot for Angkor sunsets. As you can see on my picture we were not the only one to see the sunset🤣 So, just a heads up those who want to see the sunset: be there around 3:30 pm (2 hours before) to garantee a place at the top. The numbers of visitors are restricted to 300 at the top during sunset. And from my experience: sunsets are a popular time to visit 😉 so be on time!

Breathtaking views on hill top, will also take your breath climbing up! Crowded, but spectacular at sunset. Terraced temple on the only hill I seem to remember in that area.

It's a highland in Anker area so it's the best place to see sunset. If you want to see sunset, you should come here before 16:00 because only limited people can stay in the temple on top of this mountain at the same time. If you want to check sunset time, you can just Google "sunset time".

We like Phnom Bakheng, especially the elephant ride. My fiancee likes to do it. It was really a big fun. Pity that it was heavy raining when we were at the temple, so we did not take any photos. The plan was actually to see the sunset from there. You can't always get what you want or plan.

The security is good, entry and closing time arrange is good. Walk way condition is good. This is the best place to see sun set. Too hot in the afternoon and evening.

Breath taking views. Tough climb. Attempted the sun rise which was fantastic. Heard that Sun set is more thrilling.

The sunset wasn't really great as the sun was covered by clouds. Waited quite long to go up but it was worthy

A good spot for some sunset pics but get there early as the place is packed by 5.30 pm. Be in position by 5 pm otherwise you may need to wait on numbers to leave before being allowed up onto the temple at the top. Apparently, it’s 300 maximum allowed up on the structure at any one time.

Will be so picturesque after the restoration works are complete. Currently the stones of a completelly disassembled shrine are of interest. They lay down on the ground all numbered and looking like new. The stairway straight up to the mountain is closed off, so you can choose either the elephant path or a shaded circular route. The elephant path is best for a quicker descent.

Great place to visit. One of the oldest temples in this area, the hike to the top is well worth it to see a bird's eye view of the nearby Angkor Wat.

Phnom Bakheng is a place that you can enjoy watching sunset with a very appealing green view around this mountain. You need to walk from the gate where is at the ground to the top of mountain, and the route is quite comfortable for people. Instead of walking, you also can use to ride on elephants by paying some fees to the local there. However, you need to wear appropriate clothes if you wish to go up to the mountain. For example, women cannot wear shorts or mini-skirt to climb the mountain because it is a holy place. Walking on the road along the forest, you will reach to the top of mountain. There is a temple up there as well that you can have a photo taken.
