The food is very good. Authentic. The 6 course meal boast of fish and beef, pork belly and prawns with lots of local ganishings and vegetables . The ambience is good and the service is good. The owner and the chef came to welcome us and before we left , he came to serve us a plate of local fruits - what more can you ask.
Incredible! The food is so good you just don’t want to end the dishes! It was a wonderful experience! And the chef is so nice that you want to hug him!
The food was fantastic. It was booked for the whole week so we decided to take a chance with a walk in . The owner and chef was kind enough to give us a place on the balcony. It seats
two and the best view in the restraunt.
Each course was a burst of favours and the cocktails were superb. The chef came to our table thrice to see if we were happy with our meals . I do suggest you book your spot before you arrive in Siem Reap .
What an amazing experience ! Delicious food, very nice place and the chef keep coming to your table to check if everything is going properly. Nobody should miss this place. Booking in advance is recomended.
Wonderful experience and splendid food. We had a great experience on our first day in Siem Reap, and would really recommend booking a table in advance and taking time to enjoy what might have been some of the best food in the city. Both the staff and the chef are really attentive and there were no problems accommodating the menu to allergies. Would definitely visit again.
This is a high end, expensive place. The 5 or 6 courses are amazing, complex Khmer cuisine prepared by an expatriated french chef.
The cocktails are creative and beyond delicious.
Indescriptiblejust go and enjoy the experience. The staff, the owner, everyone is absolutely friendly and serviceable.
Food that takes you on a journey – A must visit that comes only second to the temples!
I was in Siem Reap for a birthday treat and got taken here for a birthday treat. It was the best dining experience I’ve had for a very long time. We travelled by tuktuk down unlit roads to a quiet part of town, where we were warmly greeted outside the restaurant.
We sat upstairs and it was full of charm. Interesting sculptures and paintings, perfect lighting and a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. The service was attentive but non-invasive, as if they weren’t even there.
The concept, Cambodian and Khmer (note that there is a difference, such as the latter not using shrimp paste) cuisine through the use of French culinary technique and seasonal ingredients. Celebrity chefs often ramble on about ‘terroir’ and each course took me on a journey of the ‘terroir’. Each dish was interesting, so much so that my girlfriend has a photo of my face practically in the bowl trying to smell and look at the different ingredients. It was even rarer that my vegetarian girlfriend found the dishes exciting.
The menu changes on a fortnightly basis depending on what is available in the local markets, but the duck saraman was the star for me. A rich curry that had complex flavours with many layers. I just wished that I got served a bit of rice with it so I could mix it in with the sauce at the end.
For the negative Nigels of the world, this is comparatively expensive to a meal around pub street. But when you have meals for above £100 in many taster menus in London, it will be the best bargain you find in Siem Reap.
I would think that not many people will revisit Siem Reap over and over again. For that, why don’t you add a once in a lifetime dining experience to your once in a lifetime trip to Cambodia!
Some tips:
1) Book in advance - the restaurant is very popular. When a table finished around 9, they weren’t in a rush to reset and accept more customers, which I felt was excellent and added to the relaxed atmosphere.
2) Sit upstairs – the fan cooled wooden house is full of charm. The lighting is perfect, decorations wonderful and very comfortable seats.
3) Have the 6 course menu - I had a 6 course meal for $31, whereas the 5 course was $25. It’s worth it!
4) Speak to the chef! – the chef came out with a selection of unusual fruits to try for every table. It’s a wonderful touch and a great opportunity to speak to someone who’s very approachable.
5) Ask your tuktuk driver to come back for you – If you didn’t mind tipping an extra few dollars, ask for your driver to come back and collect you or they sometimes just wait. It’s a little off the beaten track and may be a bit harder to catch a tuktuk.
I would like to give this restaurant 10 stars. This was probably the best cuisine I’ve ever tried in Siem Reap. This restaurant was ranked no. 43 for Asia’s best restaurant. The chef hosted us personally. He’s a very nice and humble French guy. I took the 6 courses for $31. It’s definitely worth the price. I would strong recommend whoever read my review here, just go for it.
Very very good food, fresh ingredients from the market, menu changes every week depending on the chef’s inspiration. Great place for a fine dining
We were hosted by the chef himself. He's a soft spoken person who can really whip up a storm in the kitchen. The food is absolutely amazing and very creative.
Amazing food, amazing price. Recommend!
The food, place and the service was excellent. A different experience and great flavors
Excellent seasonal local cuisine with a traditional house feel upstairs. At US$31 for a 6 course dinner may not be everyone's budget, but if you can, then you definitely won't regret. Delicate flavours with a near perfect balance of sweet, sour, bitter and herbs. Complement these dishes with a nice cold French Rosé. We'll be back!
One of the best tasting menus I have ever had in Southeast Asia, and the piece! Can't beat it! Great derive, great drinks and great atmosphere!
Near to excellent food. The service is great. If you don't have a reservation, you can try your luck after 8:30pm. Best dinner in Siem reap 😊
Beautiful restaurant in a high end setting, akin to that of Michelin star restaurants. We had the 5 course tasting menu for 27 dollars - a much more expensive meal than any other restaurant in the area which we expected. Portions were quite generous but flavours were rather disappointing. The pork dish with turnip was bland and the fish that my partner had did not taste very nice. My mojito cocktail also looked like pond water however the red wines on the list were nicely chosen. I think for the price you can get much better food at places like Marum and Haven.
Some of the most amazing food I had in Cambodia. Would definitely go back if I had the chance. The calibre of food is unbelievable for the price paid. I'd recommend this to any foodie visiting Siem Reap.
Very nice Khmer-French fusion cuisine with good service and environment. Peaceful and remarkable dining experience!
A very good fusion food restaurant in Siem Reap. The 6 courses menus are fine, inventive and delicious. It mixes, fish, meat, vegetables with a creative taste and ideas. Desserts were absolutely divine.
