This hotel is quite beautiful, not your standard "American" hotel. A great view of the city from the swimming pool and the restaurant is really nice as well.I highly recommend this hotel for it"s location and price.

Remote for TV missing. Floors filthy. In room fountain disgusting filthy and dried out. Poor lighting.
The hotel looks like it used to be REALLY nice. But it seems maintenance is seriously lacking and it's deteriorating into a state of continual disrepair. The pool area is no exception. Literally EVERY other pool I've seen in this city is in better condition. (We looked at several others while wandering about the city). I would suggest if you stay here, make it one night or two at most. Having a two floor suite is neat, but the novelty of it wanes quickly once you start realizing the state the place is in.
The place has kitsch, but that's about all it has going for it.response / report this review -

This comment is for the restaurant, not the hotel: I would put a zero star rating if I could. We’ve been here for 40 minutes and three out of six dishes have arrived. Since we arrived one family left having paid the water they ordered and drank, as staff was just placing one hot dish on their table. The gentleman next to us in a large group had been waiting for 40 minutes for one dish after everyone had been served. A young Korean couple left just paying for their salad. It appears the kitchen is out to lunch, quite literally. There is more than enough staff hanging around, but they don’t understand English very well. Shame. Place appears to be cut out of a French colonial picture book, and I think that’s why people are attracted.

This probably was once a nice hotel, but it's obviously gone down hill. The restaurant was out of at least 3 dishes we asked for. They were out of wine as well. The bed mattress was hard and springy and they brought our 9 year old son a towel to use as a blanket.

Had an absolutely spectacular time at Terrase des Elephants now called Hotel De Ville. I really prefer the original name. It sounds more fitting and more magical and fits in more with Siem Reap and all the wonderful history. We were checked in by an awesome young man named Trum Monos Komdor. He was very calm, super friendly and spoke excellent English. He ensured we were ok throughout our stay and offered good advise on things to do. Rates were excellent and the quality of the hotel was very good. The room was everything we hoped for being very unique 3D designs on the walls, cultural carvings including Elephants and more. Very great feeling being there. The location is unbeatable being in the center of Siem Reap but just the right distance away from the noise. I really enjoyed the sky pool which has a personality of its own and the other roof to features such as garden with sculptures and massage beds. From the Sky pool you look across at the night market, the party zone, Pub Street and the shopping areas and so its just a quick walk into these areas.

The location of the hotel is perfect, very close to everything. The hotel itself has a lot of character. We loved the quirky bathroom and the lovely pool with lots of greenery around it. The lounge area on the second (or was it the first???) floor is comfortable, spacious, colonial, good views and makes up for the slightly dark, narrow lobby. Service could be a bit better, we tried to ring reception and nobody picked up the phone; we had a visitor who found reception deserted when he arrived, so he could get anyone to call us; we had to ask for help in carrying our luggage on check-out, otherwise we would have had to carry it ourselves while the guy in reception just watches. Apart from these minor irritants, we had a great time and will stay again when we are next in Siem Reap. As we live in Phnom Penh at the moment, it is very likely that we will return.

Don't waste your money worst meal in Siem Reap didn't even have coconut milk for a dish we ordered. Alarm bells should have sounded then . I ordered fish in banana leaf it was pan fried beyond dry and placed in leaf not what I expected. The meal last night at khmet bbq was cheaper and much much better .

Five years ago this hotel was honestly one of the nicest experiences. Based on this we booked again and splashed out for the deluxe suite at $110 per night, a huge amount in Cambodia. Simply put: Not worth it.
On arrival some minibar drinks were already opened, and although asking, new ones never arrived. We also noticed the water feature in the room didn't work. Then later that night heavy rain flooded the room to about 2cm of water, luckily not reaching our bags. In the morning we were greeted by a large (yet cute) mouse - both of these things we could understand in Cambodia, and beyond asking for the water to be swept out we did not complain.
On the second day, after touring the temples we wanted to make use of the jacuzzi bath, only to find the hot water ran out after filling it only about 5cm. Thinking we could wait a few minutes for the hot water to return, we then noticed that the plug wasn't good enough and water was leaking straight out of the tub. We called maintenance who couldn't fix the issue and they suggested we use the other suite rooms jacuzzi, but that had the same problem. We weren't best pleased with this option and opted for a simple shower, which was also almost unusable as it had two temperatures scolding hot or cold. Again the other room didn't really solve this issue.
Then the toilet broke.
We waited by the pool (which has cloudy water) for three hours as maintenance worked in the room. Eventually we went up to check to find the room flooded again and maintainence gone. We phoned reception to ask if it was fixed, they said they couldn't fix it, we had to ask for them to come back to clean up the mess/flood they made. We were told to use the toilet in the other room, which was dirty.
Eventually the manager came - he suggested we changed room and accepted a bottle of wine as an apology. We'd been told already the other deluxe suite had completely flooded the day before and tested the jacuzzi and shower neither of which were any improvement. Other rooms were offered (the smaller ones without any of the features we paid for) and these smelt of damp. A bottle of wine was not going to cut it. Had to negotiate to only pay for one of our two nights, and never got the apology wine. We were told they would leave the other room open so we could use a working toilet, when we got back later that night after dinner and drinks we found the rooms locked and had to spend 15 mins finding somebody from reception to give us a key (nobody answered the phones).
We checked out the next day and still had to negotiate about getting one night refunded in full (and not before tax). We went to a different hotel with a $40 special, which was modern, clean had amazing facilities, and gave us two free massages on arrival. Quite dated, needs investment. I liked my room overall, but it is unique - the sink and shower are on raised platforms in the bedroom (no privacy) either side of an 8-foot replica of a Bayon temple monolith, all elevated above a shallow pool which is not a pool, but also doesn't seem to drain? The toilet is separate (en suite) in an opposite corner, and the bed although old and sagging in the middle (aren't we all) is comfortable. The pillows are hard like punching bags, but I slept well, and there's a mosquito net over the bed which looks nice. In 12 days I've only seen one mosquito in my room, but maybe it's seasonal or more of an issue if you use the narrow Juliet balcony to hang out wet clothes, or if the room just isn't hot enough for you.. The air-conditioning is feeble; nice and cool when I've been out (I leave the fob in place for power), and a pleasant stink of citronella from a candle that housekeeping leave in the room, but once I'm back the air-con unit struggles to keep up. On the plus side, as it barely does anything it is whisper quiet! The ceiling fan will turn lazily if you want, but only for appearances. Water pressure is adequate, but did drop off the other morning for a short time. Wifi quite poor; browsing is intermittent, but you will be very lucky to stream anything even at low resolution. There's a 28-inch flatscreen and DVD player but I've not turned them on, and yet to find anywhere that sells DVDs. Housekeeping is driving me mad; lovely people, but come around way too early - 9:00, 9:15, then 8:15am today! I'm using my Do Not Disturb tonight. I can't really speak to the cleanliness because I don't make a mess, so floor/bed/wet areas are fine, but the decor is dusty, dated and poorly finished. I haven't tried the Pool upstairs because it's completely open and would just mean sunburn. There are some massage beds by the pool; I'm not sure if this is the Spa? It doesn't matter because there are several reasonable Spas within a 5 minute radius; the hotel is right in the middle of Siem Reap, and you will hear the ridiculously loud bar music/noise into the small hours, although it's just far enough away that I can sleep through it. Quite a lot of traffic noise too. I don't know why you'd use the laundry here when it's a quarter of the price (and decent) directly opposite the hotel. Unfortunately I have been unimpressed with the hotel breakfast, although it's not significantly different from the buffet/cooked options in any hot Asian country. I did have dinner in the restaurant once; spring rolls without much flavour, and then Fish Amok which I thought was very well cooked; good ingredients and loads of meaty boneless chunks of fish, but also just really bland. And I hate eating outside anyway, perspiring along with my drink. There is an indoor section, but when I've been eating by myself it seems like it would be an imposition to the staff who are stationed outside. All of the staff are very nice, but there don't seem to be any tours or activities directly connected with the hotel. They organised a boat trip for me without any problems, but while the guide was a nice guy and I appreciate not being ripped off, the general quality all round was poor. I do not fault the hotel; Cambodia as a whole is going to have to raise its game massively as tourism increases, but I was just recently staying at a boutique hotel nearby that run in-house tours and that gives me more confidence (slightly higher price, but worth paying extra). A bewildering choice of tours and activities are advertised all over town, and with so many rip-offs it's a shame this hotel doesn't run tours or have its own branded Tuk Tuks to avoid the touts outside. I don't think I will stay here again, but only because Siem Reap is packed with so many more modern & lovely hotels. For a few nights at a good price and very central location, this place is fine.

This was a very interesting hotel. The location was great- right near the old market and pub street. The staff was very nice and friendly, the room was large and clean, and the outdoor pool was a great relief from the Cambodian heat. However, the wifi was not great (it barely worked in our room), the AC in the room was weak, and the bathroom/shower had little privacy.

Really interesting hotel! Wonderful staff and fun decorations. The wifi is okay, and there is weak AC, but other than that, it's great! AND there is a pool, so you can cool down when it's hot!

The location is very good, close to night markets, restaurants and bars (Pub Street). Nice rooftop pool. The room is very spacey and has a very unique decoration! A lot of Buddha statues and definitely the most unique hotel I have ever been to. Very friendly service! I had a flight late in the evening and I got a late check out without extra charge. Highly appreciated! The only downside would be the air conditioning which didn´t make the room very cold during the evenings. And there were some mosquitos inside the room as well. There´s some standing water around the shower and it looked a bit dirty. But other than that no complains at all and would definitely recommend this hotel to friends!

TDE is a classic hotel. Awesome swimming pool with beautiful landscaping. Great location with spacious rooms. Nostalgically decorated with the Angkor Wat spirit. However, for the huge investment made to architect the hotel the food quality was mediocre at best. The rooms should be better sanitized and there should never be ants in the bed. Question: Were the pillows from Angkor Wat? It felt like a sack of Rocks. Also, the water from the fountains, which don't work, have to be drained as the guest are taking showers above it and the dirt, grime and soap is falling in that water. Very unpleasant feeling. Also, you need a shower curtain to cover the entire shower. Water splatters all over the floor while showering that makes a mess and I have to use your towels to clean it up. More unnecessary work for your staff. My renovation suggestion: First, take the fountains out of the rooms. You already have one in the patio but, make sure it works. Second, redo the whole bathroom section. It's not practical nor feasible the way it's set up now. Thirdly, replace fountain with a romantic bathtub with privacy. This makeover will make a huge difference and, again, with the pretty penny spent on this hotel, the owner can afford to do it and should do it. A final request: change the name to Terrasse des Domrai. It roles off the tongue better and this is Cambodia for Christ sake.

Nice experience. Very cool roms, Even though there were a lot of mosquitoes. The AC could use an upgrade, the rooms were very hot.

Most beautiful hotelroom I've ever had, nice reception and helpful staff. Located in the center yet reasonably quiet, ideal location for exploring Siem Riep on foot or by tuktuk. The pool was in disrepair and the poolbar closed when I visited December 2016.

Fantastic location. Bring earplugs for sleeping because it's loud but it's worth it for the location. 2 mins from pub street. 3 minutes from 2 market streets and 5 minutes from a 3rd.

The rooms were spacious. Im not sure how I feel about the design, it was unique and I hate to fault them for that. Had a temple in the bedroom and a temple on the balcony. Both the bedroom and the balcony were spacious.
I would give them 4 or 5 stars but the bed sheets were stained with something the first night. They changed them the 2nd and that time they clearly had blood on them and were not the right size of sheet. The pillows and mattresses were disgusting and looked to be ancient. We had them change them again and this time a very nice lady from the UK fixed everything, clean sheets finally and we put the sign on the door for the rest of stay to leave our room unchanged.
There was also a single cockroach (it happens but still..).
I would still recommend this place. I just hope they up their standards.response / report this review
