Nice atmosphere, nice greeting from staff and owner. Good show and interesting.
Have the dinner afterwordsthey cook it there and it’s really good.
I watched a show called Angkor decoded
The owner/performer Nick lovely Angkor history very much
He Show us a whole picture how the Ankor temples are built in a very simple way.
But many people came here with their child to see a puppet show. Finally find out it’s more like an English archaeology lesson. So maybe Nick can describe the content of the show in the website more clearly
And the manager Mala is a very nice and warm lady. Nick and Mala share dinner with us and we have a very good night
Oh! The dinner is a very very delicious. I strongly recommend
Arguably a little expensive for the duration but a great visit all the same and the money goes to a good cause.
We visited for the photo evening which was really well done. Props were used to good effect and the pictures and narration provided a vivid look at Cambodian life during the first half of the 20th Century.
I visited before my trip to Phnom Penh and so my understanding of the Khmer Rouge was limited at best. This was skirted over almost completely in the story that night (different stories and pictures are told each night). On a personal note I would have liked to have seen more covering this era.
A lovely garden venue with an outdoor bamboo theatre that featured a very interesting traditional puppet show. After a sumptuous Khemr dinner, there was an intimate and informative presentation about the temples of Angkor. This presentation will prepare you with the relevant knowledge before you visit the Angkor Wat site.
Western foods are here with shadow puppet theatre, we can order cocktail and all kind of beers too.
从来没有见过这么棒的演出,说演出也不对也许演讲更合适,真的,这种融合声光电的讲述让人印象深刻,但最厉害的还是主讲人nick对于这片土地深刻的理解和认识!有时好希望自己能成为这么厉害的人。
Snap! Wow. A beautifully narated journey through Cambodia's past using rare photos.
When visting Siem Reap, you should consider joining a bambu stage show hosted at Tangram. You'll enjoy an interactive and infotaining evening. Book the full program to meet other travellers, exchanging interesting experiences/ stories about Siem Reap, Cambodia or else.
It's worth it!
We'd love to see the bambu stage concept also in other countries!
My review includes two shows: Temple De-coded and Puppet Show.
I thoroughly enjoyed the show "Angkor Temple De-Coded". I spent 4.5 hours in the Angkor National Museum and watched a lecture series (5 hours in total) on Angkor temples, but neither is on a par with Bambu Stage when it comes to explaining how Angkor temples came into being. Nick and the production team did an AMAZING job in breaking down the complex Khmer spirituality into simple terms and presenting everything in the most understandable way possible. While you may not learn what four objects Vishnu is holding in his hands, you are guaranteed to walk away from the show with a clear understanding of the origin of Angkor temples and its evolution.
$13.75 for the show including VAT, one free drink included. Bring your mosquito repellent!
As for the Puppet Show. Half of its worth is in the young performers' enthusiasm. They take it seriously, you can tell from every movement and every act. I must be very honest here, half of the show was confusing due to the lack of usage of English language as well as the confusing plot of the story. However, if you stick to the end, the last part is about the Khmer Rouge, very very creative presentation combining puppet performance and real people acting. Recommended if you are not on a budget.
Bambu Stage a shadow puppet theatre set outside at night using traditional materials and techniques and an expanding modern interpretation on folk storytelling! Really enchanting atmosphere of a village performance. Go and support them and the young vibrant performers and puppeteers! I loved it! Hurrah for live roots theatre and music 😊
