I real enjoyed my stay at reef hotel, nice services and great food. Also you get to enjoy the sunrise as you wake up from the rooms close to the beach. I would highly recommend this place.

Okay so I went there with my school, for a sports festival and I can confidently say this place was NOT good. Firstly we got terrible room service, we asked for towels and they brought them an HOUR later. The air conditioning did not work and all 3 nights were spent in the heat. Also we only had 1 working power socket for 3 people, which meant only one phone could charge at a time. The facilities and the food were decent which is why 2 stars as opposed to 1.

Nice makuti roof covered buildings with spacious and well taken care off gardens and pools. Seafront. Decent rooms with the usual Kenyan deficiencies in beds and bathrooms. Excellent food and friendly staff with sometimes mediocre training. A classic hotel in Mombasa.

There could be more improvements I find it a bit rundown. The pool beds were filty, looks like they never wipe the mattresses.The service at the pool restaurant wasn't too good, when they get busy the waiters mess up the orders. My granddaughter and her friend sat waiting for their food for almost 2 hours, they had a lot of patients seeing how busy each w/w were but in the end had to cancel and walk away.. I would recommend that you give your waiters/waitress a certain amount of tables to serve each day ( like each waiter/waitress 3 tables and that way there would be no mix ups because the waiter /waitress would know their tables. I've witnessed the waiters/waitress argueing among themselves, and also forgetting to charge the customers for items.I had one waiter who came to me at breakfast time with this worried look on his face telling me that he had forgotten to charge me for a meal yesterday, he explained it all to me which was fair and I paid him. But what I'm trying to say is that these things shouldn't happen. had I left the hotel he would not get the the money owed to him, and I guess it would come out of his salary. Other than that the rooms were okay, except for the cleaners who come early in the mornings and talk on top of their voices. at times we thought that they were fighting. they have to take into consideration that hotel guest are still sleeping and lower the noise.Service at the reception was good.. I might add that's it for me!

This is a wonderful beach resort, hospitality of the people, cosmopolitan in hosting visitors, their services are brilliant, i enjoy night life, the foods, Drinks,music, partying and live band music. Don't forget the beautiful giant rooms and tranquil swimming pools!!

Good Hotel with a really nice ocean view and beach front. The food was good and the rooms were clean. If you are looking for new facilities you will be disappointed. This is a relatively old facility but still holding some juice and commands respect if you are looking for a serene, spacious outdoor hotel with a swimming pool and nice ocean view. WiFi in the room did not work. The conference rooms pass, no bells and whistles.

It's a nice place to stay. The food is good. The service is good. It would be nice if they had elevators/lifts. Having a room on the third floor is less fun when you have to do multiple walks up the stairs.

Good local hotel with pool, beach side and a popular bar on the beach front nice view of the beach, it has a nice restaurant outside.
The building itself is quite dated and could do with a refurbishment but is spacious and has a good location. Limited public transportation access, 10mins walk from the local shopping mall

It's a decent place. Good service. We booked it through Airbnb so got it for a cheaper rate. Food is also good. But it has a beautiful view of the ocean n 3 swimming pools. Nice place to be around at the weekends.

Reef is an excellent destination by the beech. Very quite and relaxing. The white beech sands is ultimate. But the rooms looks like last renovated in 70,s. Room service is hopeless and you have to call them again n again.. The restaurants dont have much variety food.. But the place is a must for a quiet vacation.

Loved every moment of our stay. Right on the beach. A cool pool bar and a great nightclub right on the beach. This is the place to be for those on the adventurous side and who like to party till the early hours.

I have no idea how this hotel has these many good reviews. This hotel is being run rather than managed. I have never written a review for a hotel before so here goes. I will start with the positive. The location of the hotel is fabulous. The grounds are well kept and pleasing to the eyes. The view at the beach is fabulous. I did not use the swimming pool.

The room:

Opportunity for improvement is that the rooms seems to be stuck in a distant neglected generation. I booked the hotel even though I saw some negative comments because I wanted to see for myself since some people seem to be petty. The check in was pleasant and the porter that took me to my room was equally so. The room I was given was ok however there was a problem with hot water which I reported. The maintenance came and tried to fix it without success. I requested for another room which they declined at first telling me that "we are fully booked" nonsense. After push-back I was reassigned to a suite which looked like a room from the American Horror Story. I walked past the living room straight to the bedroom which had countless beds to the bathroom to test the hot water shower knob which worked. Being exhausted from a tortuous day I settled on room. I took off my shoes and the floor was semi grimy. I simply wore my flip flops that I had in my case to resolve this issue because I was spent and was not making another phone call. The suite in itself was big however there are details into managing a hotel that the people that run this hotel know and ignore. The bathroom also had a lingering smell, thank God it went away when the door was closed. The air-conditioning was cool enough to neutralize it. The bed was also comfy enough to send me into slumberland.

Dining Room:

After taking a shower which was pleasant as the salt water was very relaxing, I dressed in slacks to head out to dinner and upon arriving, there was no one there to sit me as I'm often used to in these type of establishments and there was no dress code for dinner. I hunted for a waiter who told me that I could sit anywhere I wanted which I thought was odd. I asked her how would you know where I am so you can take my drink orders and she said that we'll find you. I began searching for a table which there were no clean ones. I came back to the lady who told me to point the table that I wanted and someone will come and clean it for me. I did just that and left for the buffet table. I came back with my plate to find a couple sitting at my cleaned table. They refused to move saying that they didn't see anyone sitting there so they commandeered it. I was tired so I sourced another table, had it cleaned and sat down. I tried the food and it was not up to standard. I tried something else and was equally disappointing. The qualify of food they provide at the buffet is not up to the standard of such a hotel. I heard that a la carte menu is much better however I paid for half board and I wanted to enjoy that. I was at this hotel for two days and this is the first and last time I visited the dining hall let alone eat at this hotel. I dined elsewhere.

Conclusion:

Those who are running this hotel may know the problems the hotel has and they choose to do nothing about it. This hotel has great potential especially if it is closed and brought to current standards. I believe that It has what it takes to compete if it was being managed rather than run as it's happening now. If this hotel were in the United states it wouldn't even have three stars. The owner of this hotel is sitting on a gold mine. My suggestion again is either a massive renovation project and then look for talent that can manage this property or sell it to someone who is knowledgeable about the service industry.

Slightly old, need renovations. Rooms are nice but the bathroom at least for double room a bit squeezed with no shower area, you have to step into the tub which seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen

One of the best hotels in mombasa and you can get any service in there pools,restaurants,beach lounge and many more
