I stayed at Serena Beach Resort for 6 nights. The staff are very friendly, respectful and professional. However, the quality of service in the rooms was disappointing.

First, the telephone hardly worked right from the first day I checked into the hotel. I raised the issue but it wasn't fixed and so I was forced to contact room service and the reception through my mobile phone. That meant calling the hotel's official line and wait to get connected to the person I wanted to speak to. Very frustrating!

Secondly, despite having air conditioner in the rooms, there was always a smell of dampness in the room immediately you walk in. For the bedding, I would suggest investing in a fabric softener to give them a nice smell.
I believe Serena can afford to make these changes.

A top quality hotel which, particularly if you can qualify for one of their "deals", offers a 5 star experience at near 3 star prices. For anything less than US$ 250 a night it's a bargain.

The place has got a great ambiance, very nice view of the ocean and their food is so niiiice/excellent Their rooms are very neat and spacious.
I have really enjoyed spending my time here. Its heavenly.

Nice clean hotel, nice food and friendly staff! Don't expect a polished 5-star experience, but you can see they certainly try hard, and the place is kept clean and smart. Rooms feel a bit outdated. It was very quiet when I was there, out of the high season.
