Very sad, please don't go there if you are about animals. Many of the larger ones were clearly mentally disturbed and were just pacing back and forth all day. Many of the large animals had no grass or trees, only painted fake rocks to live their entire life on. Very sad.

Lives seeing so many beautiful creatures here. Weird how some exhibits are huge and others like a small closet. Feeling sorry for those with cramped habitats.

Never witnessed animal cruelty like this. Kept in such small places with rubbish surroundings. The poor bear and polar bear look like they have mental problems because of it. Disgusting zoo

Really nice zoo, great fun for kids, all the typical zoo animals plus a petting and feeding area with farm animals. Highly recommended weekend activity.

They have a lot of different animals. Small enclosures but that's normal for the age of the zoo. It was a fun excursion. I would definitely go again

I agree with everything that everyone has said on here. I came here because of the Osaka amazing pass. But after experiencing it , I deeply regretted coming. I was never a believer/supporter of zoos. Animals should be left in the wild not in captivity. Seeing the animals at this zoo makes you realize how sad it is and how this problem should be addressed. The penguins and polar bears for example, were kept in small cages outside with fake snow. A few of the penguins were also bald from plucking their hair out from being stressed. I would recommend more people writing reviews to raise awareness to this problem.

In short: kids might enjoy it, zoo and enclosures are quite small, traffic noise and the smell of exhaust through out all of the zoo.
I usually enjoy going to a zoo and have been to many fantastic ones in Europe. The Tennoji zoo might be the worst zoo I have ever gone to.
It's easy to get to if you use the underground train system and entry is quite cheep. It's surrounded by roads and highways so you can constantly hear and smell cars as you walk around the park. The bathrooms and stores are all clean and well maintained.
This is the first time I've actually felt sad walking around a zoo. Other than the reptiles, the other animals look restless. Many of the cages they reside in are small and dirty. The animals either sleep or pace around restlessly. The worst thing I saw was a bear alone in his enclosure walking around on constant small circles.
Many of the cages are naked blue concrete husks with nothing In them to stimulate the animals.
Kids might be able to enjoy the trip as it is quite easy to observe the animals and there is a petting zoo in the middle of the park.
I left extremely disappointed and honestly a bit horrified of the living conditions of some of the animals.

I came here because it was part of the Amazing Pass. While the selection of animals is pretty good for the size of the zoo, the enclosures are much too small for most of the animals, especially the feline section. Many of the animals pace back and forth, the ground well worn with their paths. The zoo has a very dated feel to it. I wouldn't recommend this particular zoo.

It is a huge zoo but the animals are put into small cages/rooms. It made me sad to see them. they should be allowed to walk more freely, they were just walking circle continuously.

Surprisingly a really great zoo! It's tough to allow animals a natural habitat in the confines of a city, but they do there best.
We were disappointed that a number of animals were missing in the winter season, but had a lot of fun anyways.
Try to leave 3-4 hours to take your time and see everything.response / report this review
