  We had an excellent ryokan experience at Tocen Goshoboh. We were definitely welcomed warmly despite speaking limited Japanese. The ryokan took a short-notice booking and also happily accommodated one vegetarian in our party for both dinner and breakfast which we understand is very rare for ryokans serving traditional Japanese food. The futons were comfortable and the onsen was a very special and enjoyable experience.

  This is the one and only Japanese luxury hotel in Arima.
  Offers a lot to appreciate.
  Great room .. great smell and lighting.
  Food , both BF and dinner were great to experience with yourself.
  
  It is pricy but worth every yen.

  Nice onsen. Good dinner and breakfast. Very nice staff. Spacious room and fit felt very traditional? Would stay here again. Price for a night stay was around $200.

  I'm so glad i upgrade my stay. It was so much worth it. Highly recommended.
  
  Location was the best, it's right across the bus stop from Osaka, and the small town center.
  
  The kaiseki dinner was abundant, choices are not the typical Japanese restaurant options, it was very satisfying with a top notch quality.
  
  The spa itself is what is expected of the caliber of the hotel, awesome.
  
  Highly recommended

  Awesome place to go for the "authentic" Japan-style. Great staff, friendly, and informative. Helpful if you have heavy luggage when you check out. They also have a shuttle service.
  
  Only downside is that they are really out of the way of anything and takes about ¥740 to get there one way, but this adds to their authenticity (considering they are a Ryoukan).

  Frankly speaking, the service and the food do not add up to the price they charge($550/night). For our instance, there was no welcome greetings as we walked into the hotel for the first time as well as no detailed introduction of the room or facilities as a whole. Did not feel much different as if you check in at holiday inn. It was just a Q&A process at the end. Writing this review as I am having the dinner right now which was supposed to be one of the highlights of the hotel, the Kobe beef( Leveled A5 as advertised). It turned out that the beef did not taste anywhere near A5 as we just had Kobe beef yesterday in Kyoto and there was simply no comparison to be made. The meat was so chewing to the point that I had to call the waitress asking her if it was the real Kobe beef. It was totally a disappointment! Will going to try the hot spring after the dinner, well let's see

  We had lunch there two days in a row while visiting Arima. The food was incredible. We tried the Japanese white wine which was fabulous. It went to terrifically with the bento box lunch. It was really a magical place. I wish we would have booked a room there. It is so beautiful.

  It was amazing. Spring for the dinner service. Best beef I've ever had. The open air bath is super hot, so just be ready.

  It was a little hard to find, but it's a lovely place and I really enjoyed my stayed here. The bath area isn't very big, but still very nice.

  Terrific from the moment you arrive. The service and meals were flawless. The onsen was unique as there is a wall between the far part of the pool allowing my husband and I to speak while enjoying the hot spring water. We also opted for time in the private bath which is in the most beautiful garden. So far the best meal we have had during our 2 weeks in Japan.
