Beautiful trees around the building, nice views of the surrounding mountains. We came in Late April, so many of the plants hadn't yet recovered from winter. Many daffodils and other flowers were out though. I would recommend coming later in the year to see the valley in all greens. However, the onsen is very nice in the cooler weather.
There are a couple of nearby and relatively cheap places to get food (about 600-1500 yen) and there are a few supermarkets within walking distance too.response / report this review -

Staff were nice and welcoming. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with a lovely traditional aesthetic. Yukata were provided to wear around to the baths. The baths themselves were clean and spacious and the outdoor bath section was absolutely beautiful! The food was also large in quantity, varied and delicious. Only small complaint is that some of the public bathrooms weren't very clean, likely due to the occasional inconsiderate guest. Perhaps could use more regularly checks to ensure they are kept clean.

料理も山奥感を感じられて、また品数も多くおいしかったです。
はるばる訪ねた甲斐がありました。
