Great Huts offers a perfect combination of rustic, "returning to nature" ambience and high end service that makes this resort a perfect getaway for both couples and families. The individual attention to details and the scenic views were so captivating that we cancelled all our plans and just stayed on property for the whole weekend. We had an amazing time!

Very friendly staff. Food wasn't good for a quite high price. The huts and the area are lovely and built with love.

Ok for one or two days, but not longer.

At night very loud, as it is next to some night club and the rooms have no closed doors/windows.

Staff who is responsible for the breakfast is incredibly slow and seems to forget everything you ask them for already after one minute: This means you wait 15 minutes for a cup of coffee - or go and get it yourself, what shouldn't be appropriate for the price. Or the lady brings you something you didn't even order.

The room had a strange smell like it's rotting. Also much of the bamboo they used for building the complex is already broken and needs to be exchanged.

The restaurant has a very monotonous menu with prices way too high for what you get.

Great place to stay! The property is amazing and is fun to explore. The staff is so nice and very helpful and the Owner is friendly and inviting. Would travel back to Jamaica just to stay here again. They had a great band play one of the nights we were there!

As a side note, there is a local club Enorh that is a few buildings away, and when they blast music from the roof on some Saturday nights, it may be hard to sleep. Most dance parties don’t begin until midnight in Jamaica, apparently they are party people!

A great resort located in Boston Bay. Contrary to most generic resorts found in Jamaica (mostly Montego Bay), Great Huts provides a simple and tasteful experience of Jamaica's beauty.
    1. The personnel working there was very helpful and and always catered to the guests' needs. Chef Real helped and cook some delicious ackee&salt fish and his other creations were delicious. He even gave us a small bottle of his specialty jerk sauce. Sean was another gentleman who addressed all our concerns and made us feel welcome.
    2. The private beach is beautifully landscaped. Boston beach is a 2 min walk, where you'll find the best surfing conditions in Jamaica.
    3. The resort is beautifully landscaped and worth exploring. The coastal viewpoints provide breathtaking views of the sunset.

Many thanks to Dr Paul and his team for a great experience.

From the moment that we arrived, my husband and I knew that we weren't going to want to leave. The first night we stayed in the Ibibio hut and loved it so much we upgraded to the Mandinka, which was just as cozy and tastefully decorated. The great Huts staff was phenomenal. Whatever we asked them for, was provided promptly and with a smile. The authentic Jamaican and African artwork and furniture which is showcased throughout the resort is beautiful. They naturally blend into the lush, tropical landscape, which made exploring the property fun, exciting and adventurous. During our daily hikes we saw sweeping ocean views at every turn. The private beach was fantastic and the water was so clear we felt as if we were swimming in an aquarium. There was so much more to see and do that we will definitely be returning with family and friends. Dr. Paul has created a wonderful oasis that shows that Africa's roots and influences are still strong in Jamaica! I recommend that you make time to visit his homeless shelter which is a short scenic ride from the resort. Its well worth your time, please support. This much needed vacation gave us one of our best memories ever. We truly had a 5 star experience!

We had such a great time at Great Huts! The property was recommended by a friend from Jamaica who travels to Portland frequently. I booked on their website - where I found a better rate than any third party site. We called to arrange a late night arrival and they assured us the security guard would show us to our hut and paperwork could be done the next day. I wasn't paying much attention when I booked and I booked for a week later than I intended, but they were very friendly and still accommodated us. We stayed in the Almond Tree sweet. It was very comfortable, two stories and included two large beds, a refrigerator, ocean views, and an indoor/outdoor very large tub/shower which we absolutely loved.

The property is giant and includes a cliffside path that parallels the ocean. It also has beach access to Boston Beach, private ocean pools, a beach side lounge area, and a great spot for cliff diving. Make sure you check out the whole property on your next stay. Also, be sure to make breakfast in the morning - included - which is authentic and amazing. All of the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. We'll be back to great huts on our future visits to Portland for sure!

I had a wonderful experience here with my family and friends. The owner, Dr. Paul and the staff were so welcoming and helpful. He (Dr. Paul) even made sure to check up on us to see if we are fine. I loved my hut and the beautiful view of the beach. I also loved the food and surrounding. The best part of this trip was the Cultural night. It's a must see!! My party and I would definitely come back.

My girlfriend and I stayed at Great Huts from December 27th for 10 days. An awesome experience great location on the beach at Boston Bay. Lush green and tropical. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and the owner Dr. Paul Rhodes made sure we were well taken care of. The "chef" and restaurant staff did a wonderful job, fresh and delicious.
African vibes the New Years Eve entertainment was superb. For a different feel of Jamaica check it out!

This is kind of an eco hotel. Good if you are into more intrepid (read no AC) lodging. The restaurant at night has a stupendous show by some great dancers. Food is not as stupendous.
