This hotel is awful. Besides the roach found in the shower, the floors were dirty and dusty, the AC was completely broken, and the halls smelled of mildew and sewage. The jacuzzi looks as if it hasn't been cleaned in years. You can hear every sound. I heard our neighbor snoring. Staff was fine, but the quality of the hotel inside and out was just old and dirty. The bed was hard as a brick. This was a terrible stay and I wish I had all my money back. There's hardly any restaurants and nothing to do nearby. Everything closes early and the beach could surely use some maintenance. It was a completely uncomfortable experience. I gave it 2 stars for being close to the beach.

The only minus we have encountered is the size of the room, which was way too tiny for two persons. Otherwise, breakfast was OK and the staff helpful.

Great end to a fantastic Italian trip! was a big (in Italian terms) room with a partial beach view. Our double bed was two twins pushed together- at least the mattress was not too hard. Cold AC, satellite TV, tiled floors. The hotel has a great observation deck and wellness spa (jacuzzi and sauna (it was way too hot out for a sweat)) on the roof, we watched the sunset from. Good location walking distance from the action of the town center right across from the public beach access (we live in Florida at Siesta Key, so we are beach spoiled) we did not go on the beach. Typical Italian (tourist) breakfast of coffee, pastries, packaged toast with jam & Nutella® yogurt and fruit!
We did not eat well on the beach. After 9 days in Italy we were over pizza and pasta. The first night we went Chinese- was cheap but not very good. and on our last night we went to and "American-ish" chain called Old Wild West- it was horrible and expensive and the service sucked and well, dont waste your euros, time or appetite there. Next time we will try to eat more local, off the main drag.
We chose Hotel Bellavista for its nearness to the Ostia Antica ruins and free shuttle with an English speaking driver, to the airport. Ostia is an area worth exploring further we'll be back and staying here.
