We stayed here in February [2014] for 5 nights to visit family. It is a very warm place with a cozy, home-like atmosphere, not far from the Basilica. Gabriella would greet us every evening and was always very reassuring and congenial [her English was a lot better than our Italian!!!]. Barbara [or Babs] would be ready with breakfast every morning with a smiling, pleasant demeanor. This set the tone for each of our days in Assisi, and her amazing cappuccinos didn't hurt, either! The rooms were cozy and our room's bathroom even featured a heated floor which came in handy on those damp Umbrian days. Our room, Verdi, was on the main floor and we did manage to get a view over some of the Umbrian countryside. If you want more of a view, then request a room on the 1st, as opposed to the main, floor. Keep in mind that the hotel's front door is not on a street but on a stairway that runs between 2 streets. Assisi is built entirely on a hillside so the location is an ideal introduction to walking up and down the hills that make this town enchanting.
