The hotel was highly recommended by our travel agent. She booked a Classic room for us back in May for travel in October. When we arrived at the hotel we were assigned a small, smelly room on the 3rd floor (elevator to 2nd floor and a steep flight of steps up to the room). The double bed in the room was tucked between two walls making it impossible to enter the bed from the sides. The only access was from the foot of the bed. The room was at the top of the building so the ceiling was partially slanted making it impossible to stand in certain parts of the already tiny room.

When porter brought us into the room, I requested that we be moved to a Classic room which we reserved and not this attic room that was assigned. The porter called the front desk and put me on the line. The desk clerk said we would have to spend the 1st night in this room and he would see if he could move us the next day. I had the porter take our bags down to the lobby and was transferred over to the manager by the desk clerk. After looking over the available rooms the manager said that he would upgrade us to a Superior room at no extra charge. We were shown to a rather remote Classic room which we accepted after the initial nightmare room assigned. It was not a Superior room as the manager stated.

Additionally, during the stay we found the staff to be very unfriendly. No smiles or friendly greetings in the lobby or breakfast room. In fact when we checked out no one even offered to have a porter help us with our bags with which we were obviously struggling. I am not sure how this hotel gets better than medicore reviews. The first room we were assigned was atrocious. The clerk should be ashamed of his attempt to assign such a room when it was clear we reserved a Classic room at $350 per night.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There are many other hotels in Venice for $350 per night which I am sure would offer appropriate (and as reserved) accommodations and guest treatment. I'm also not sure who designated this hotel as 4 star. The place is 2 star at best.

By the way we were in the main hotel complex and not in the annex down the street like some of the other reviewers.

Do yourself a favor and pass on the Ca dei Conti. You can do much better for the price and have a pleasant, accomodating stay. I discussed the treatment we experienced with our travel agent. She is going to relay our experience and alert her staff members that arrange hotels in Venice for the agency's clients.

This hotel had friendly staff and we'll maintained facilities. I liked that. The breakfast was mediocre at best and I barely fit inot the shower. Had I dropped the soap, I would have had to get out to pick it up.

The hotel is ten minutes away from San Marco. The hotel is definitely not 4 star standard although it does have the potential to be. The bathroom door had to be forced shut and was jamming. Not good when you have a five year old. Breakfast served between 7 -10am, it was decent, but the staff were in a hurry to clean up at 10:30am. Air-condition only had cold air during summer even though the thermostat said up to 30 degrees. Towels in the bathroom had a dry clean smell to it, and some make up stain. Expected a lot more from the hotel that is charging about £500 a night.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on here and they had the cheapest rates around

Tucked away just around the corner from restaurants, ships, piazzas and the living, breathing soul of Venice stands the Ca' Dei Conti hotel. They specialize in beautifully ornate rooms with glass chandeliers, marble and inlaid wood furnishings. The heavy solid stainless steel room key numbers serve as a reminder that quality is at the forefront of hotel operations. Staff are more than happy to assist you in Italian or English (at the very least) and your needs are met simply by dialing 9. Breakfast holds a wide range of options hot, cold, fresh and tasty in a beautiful upper level dining room. Most of all I find the peaceful atmosphere supremely relaxing. No traffic, honking or other disturbances exist here, at least in early

Quaint hotel right on a canal. Very Venetian feel to the rooms in the older style. Room was a bit cramped, but what do you expect? Staff was very helpful and accommodating.

The hotel is really nice and we got lucky with a larger room in the annex. It was confusing to get breakfast in the main building but that was tasty. I don't like the large, heavy keys so it would be nice to update. Also, it is a challenging location to get to with luggage. Once here though, it is lovely
