Purchased the all inclusive ticket two days prior which also allowed access to the babtistry, clock tower, and museum. You must reserve a time for the dome in advance. The dome is quite the trek and more steps than the clock tower though the latter had more uneven steps, making it more difficult.

The one thing that was annoying was that there is a line despite the time reservation, which would have been fine. However, we got on line in time (and stood for an hour) to get to the front in time for our tickets, but they decided to let others who were late go ahead of us. This was annoying to those who waited AND caused congestion at the entry. There was a shift change during that and the second guy let those who were in line with a reservation through so not sure if policy or just the guy who was in charge.

Astonishing Building of masterclass from 1500. There is a All-in-one-Ticket for 15 Euro that provides entry to the Museum, the copula, the baptistery and the tower with beautiful sights. The main cathedral is free to enter but consider waiting Time.

Amazing architectural design. There are no words.
The lines to go in the church are crazy, you can wait in line even 1 hour and the thing is that it doesn't deserve it. There is nothing to see inside the church. On the other hand the tower and the view you get if you climb those stairs is indescribable it is worth it. Be careful there are 3 different lines for 3 different parts of the church.

If you want to climb the dome I would recommend that you book much in advance. The church has a free entrance and it's completely worth going to don't to be dissuaded by the lines that you may see outside it is pretty fast-moving and within 15 minutes you will be inside the main cathedral. Once you are inside there are a few students that offer free tours, I highly recommend that you take these tours as it will give you a good understanding of the artwork and the artists.

Tip 1. Book at least 2 days in advance online, if you want to climb the dome. Number of people allowed is restricted for safety, which makes total sense as the stairs are very narrow. If you didn't book early enough, like how I was, pay the extra 20 Euro for a guided tour. (35 as opposed to 15 euro without guide)
Tip 2. The climb up to the dome is not as hard. 463 steps sounds like a lot, but there are 2-3 stops on the way you can rest. So you are basically climbing 8-10 floors for each interval.
The dome is an architectural miracle and the view on the top is magnificent. Enjoy!

Amazing building with grsat views of yhe city. You are able to hike to the top of the building through very narrow paths, however it can be claustrophobic / you will walk very steep steps / you also need to pay an additional fee but we'll worth it!

You are also able to visit the cathedral but please wear proper clothing otherwise at least purchase a cloth to wrap around your legs of wearing shorts otherwise they won't let you in. For this part you do not require to walk any steps and can do it by itself

Extraordinary cathedral. The building is enormous and a testament to the vision and perseverance of it's medieval architects and builders. Expect to wait a long time in line to get in if you wish to.

Beautiful building but no information about the church when touring round. The only way is to go on one of the tours to find out. Make sure you book the dome/tower climb in advance!

A very crowded tourist place but definitely worthy to visit. The architecture is beautiful and historically very rich. The crowds are exhausting but they have become part of the place and come with the richness of the place. There are plenty of small sandwich shops around to grab a quick bite. All in all a great experience.

From a Catholic perspective, this is a very special place. Not only did Savonarola preach here, they have an extraordinary collection of saint relics. The museum is worth a visit, as is the cathedral itself and the tour up into the dome. As a side note, I was able to celebrate Mass there on very short notice. They have the right (south) wing of the transept reserved for Masses so you reserve it at almost any hour of the day. Enjoy!
