I recently moved to Sandgerdi, and had heard good things about Vitinn so I was excited to try it out. Overall, I was disappointed and wanted to provide a review to let management know, as I think the food quality could be improved to make the business a real winner. When I entered the restaurant, I was immediately impressed by how nice it looked (but could have used some soft local musicit was totally silent and the waitress wasn't talkative either). From what I had heard before, and from what I saw in the facility, my expectations of really amazing sea-food were really high. My wife and I ordered the pan fried trout and deep fried fish plates. These dishes came with salad, rice, French fries, and hash potatoes and sauces in totalmost of which were very poor quality. The fish components were good, but I have had much better for similar price in Iceland. If the food quality is improvedespecially in the side dishes and suchthis business would be really nice. As is I can only give 2 stars.

Ordrered trout with potatoes and I was surprised by how fast the food came. The dish had a good amount of trout, and almost no potatoes. It had rice instead. The third side was a salad. The fish was okay but the sides where without taste. The potatoes were fried and very oily and probably bought in a grocery store. The salad was defenitely not fresh and it looked like it had been prepared the day before. The rice had been cooked with soy sauce but was not tasty at all. I think this place has potential if they hire a professional cook. The waiter was nice and pleasant and I really liked the facility.

We had our first meal/dinner in this restaurant when we arrived in Keflavik, as it was recommended to us by a local. However, I found the cod I ordered extremely salty. The restaurant itself was a bit filthy, saw some dead flies and stains (from previous guests?) on the table. Old design with many things going on if you look at the walls and ceiling, something you either like or dislike

This was our last meal in Iceland and we could not have been more disappointed. We ordered the lunch buffet and after our first tastes wish we hadn't. The "fried" fish was crunchy on one side and incredibly soggy on the other. The salad bar had vegetables that were way past their prime. The rest of the food was quite bland as well.
We both left the restaurant quite sad that this was our last meal in the country.

Somehow you think this is a strange town to have a fish restaurant of this level, but when you look around, the town is full of fish processing plants and the harbour is full of fishing boats ! Go for their Crab and Shellfish soup it's delicious, the other fish dishes are big and tasty. Great service and interior decoration. Will return when in Iceland.

Best meal we had in Iceland! The front entrance is Wheelchair accessible and the bathroom works okay for a manual wheelchair. Lots of history worked into the menu and decor.

This place should literally be at the TOP of everyone's list. Vitinn is located right on the ocean and right next to the local fisherman. You cannot get any fresher. There are traditional Icelandic dishes that are absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable as well. We mentioned that we had to get to the airport and our meal was served in a matter of 10 minutes! 1,000 stars!! Very highly recommend!!

Very good quality food, the price is not that expensive for iceland. A nice warm wood interior, full of typical décorations, very welcoming. We felt good there.

I had the best piece of cod I've ever eaten here. It was marvelous. Pan fried in Icelandic butter. Restaurant was pleasant. Nice interior. Very good service. I may eat there again tomorrow night.

Was very disappointed, we showed up and they were busy, so busy from a tour bus that we weren't even given the option to wait for a table- mind you we were only two people. We ended up leaving and going elsewhere.
