  We had a very good stay at UMI hotel. The staff was do friendly and they have a wake-up service, so we had the chance to see the northern lights from ountside and even from our bed. The dinner and breakfast were declicious.

  The best times of the year to see the Northern lights are from September to April. Umi hotel is in a fabulous location for such a viewing of the lit up sky. Not far from a volcano and close to a waterway in the southern end of Iceland. This newly opened hotel only has approximately two dozen rooms. Be prepared to travel 2 hours from the airport to this remote region. The restaurant has great selection for the buffet breakfast. There is always a friendly staff member at the front desk.

  My car got stuck in the snow after the snow storm. The staff helped get the car out of the snow. Thank to very much!

  Beyond beautiful and breathtaking views from this location, nice rooms, accommodating staff, excellent food, and great proximity to skogafoss and the black sand beaches near Vik. The road is a bit beat up, but this is probably my favorite of all the places I’ve stayed in Iceland.

  Of all the hotels we had the pleasure of staying at during our trip to Iceland, UMI by far was our favorite. The hotel was immaculate and although newly opened, was warm and cozy. The owner was incredibly genuine and kind, and offered insight into Iceland from a locals perspective. Dinner was delightful, and our waiter was kind. Most memorable, we saw the northern lights dancing across the sky in greens and purples during our stay. Stay at UMI, it will be a decision you won't regret. Thank you to the owners for making this a trip we wont forget!

  My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at this new hotel! We had to find a place last minute because our original place fell through and we're so glad that it worked out and we stayed here! It comes with breakfast and they provide wake up calls in case there are Northern Lights out. It's a nice modern hotel close to waterfalls. It's a little trek from the road but it's peaceful and near the water. The road to get to the place is a little bumpy, but it's great once you get there. Staff are friendly and the food is very yummy. We would highly recommend!

  Great staff and remote location. Hotel was not completely finished yet when we were there last month, but will be one of the best in the area once complete. Take the time to follow the river down to the ocean for another perspective on the area
