Was able to check in on time and was shown to my room no problem. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. Room looked fine. Beds were unremarkable but not uncomfortable. View was great! Wished the bathroom was a little bigger but it didn't end up being that big of a deal. For the price, I got what I expected. My biggest complaint is that the smoke detector flashed every couple seconds and illuminated the whole room. It was very distracting and made it hard to fall asleep.

With the exception of the Gentleman who was a mechanic, the staff here were so rude and miserable, I say hello with a smile on my face and they just stare at me in a misaerable mood. The whole place is run down, inside and out, the room I stayed in was ok but the shared bathroom was so in need of repairs and redecoration, you can start by getting a new fixture for the shower head. I hope you improve on your services.

Basic accommodation. No tea or coffee facilities so bring your own kettle. Very good for a cheap getaway and very close to city centre & 5 minute walk to bus station.

Needs renovation, has potential health risks for young children (internal mould). Single glazed windows & near airport. Has potential if someone will invest in making the guest experience nicer.

Travel Inn is an excellent guest house right next to the BSI bus terminal and just a short walk in to the main city centre or a couple of minutes on one of the many busses from outside. Room was clean staff friendly. Excellent value for the price serves as a great base for exploring Reykjavik and for excursions

Somewhat noisy late into the night because of the busy road and neighbors. Great location to walk around the city, and not having to find parking was a plus. Room was cozy, but the light didn't work in mine. The bed was comfortable, but the pillow was almost non-existent, had to fold it to get any comfort out of it.

Immediately across the road from the bus station, easy walk to downtown. Clean and comfy, but basic. Breakfast very expensive, would recommend subway across the road for breakfast, it's much cheaper

Dirty and terrible service, we had to wait for 40min until they opened the door, just to sleep in disgusting dirty beds.

The bed was clean and that's really the high point. We had spiders on our ceiling, creepy bathroom that was cramped and not great at flushing, and we had to wait like 20 mins to get in. Out of all our hotels in iceland, this was the worst.

We spend one night here. Room was outdated and smelled bad. Older guy in reception was the worst in customer service ever. Check out time is 10.00am which is too early and this older guy was yelling loud 9.45am behind our door that we have 15 minutes time to check out. Just skip this place.

The worst hostel I have been in.
The guy isn't friendly at all. We have to wait outside untill mister is ready to come and open the door. 10min. The excuse is: people who understand doesn't complain. Nice way to welcome people

Highly dishonest & inhospitable

I stayed at this hotel for a night in August 2016.
I chose this hotel in spite of its bad reviews, because I booked the room one week prior to the trip and didn’t have any other options with a central location in Reykjavik.

The problems started when I was back to France after the trip. When opening my online bank extract, I saw that the hotel had charged me twice for the night !! 150€ on the day I booked it, and again 150€ a few days later (which I didn’t see before coming back home because I was already on my road trip around Iceland).

After many unsuccessful attempts to call the hotel, I finally reached them – they told me they only attended the phone in the morning after 10am. The 2 people I had on the phone spoke a surprisingly bad English (or pretended to ?), which didn’t help. I explained the situation and they told me they would check with their bank to see if they had received the payment twice and then call me back.

5 days passed and they never called back. So I called and they admitted that it was right that I had been charged twice. They added that if I wanted to be reimbursed, I would have to give them my credit card number over the phone ! NEVER do that ! I said I would not do so and they said, well, we cannot pay you back – they even said it was impossible for them to reimburse me through a bank transfer with my IBAN !! They just hoped that I would get tired and drop it.

So I called the online booking platform, who confirmed that it was not normal that they should require my card number over the phone. As they advised, I filled the complaint form on their website (they have an option : been charged twice for the room).
They then took charge of « chasing » the hotel : if they couldn’t have the hotel reimburse me after a certain time, they would themselves pay me back. Which they did just 2 weeks ago after unsuccessfully trying to reach the hotel !

It took a good 2 months to settle this problem. Spare yourself the worry and loss of time and just stay away from this lousy « hotel » !

They obviously don't do that for every customer but I'm guessing they give it a shot from time to time Sad.

Apart from that, there was no reception when we arrived at 9pm and the house was locked. We called the number to be used for late arrivals and a person came 20 minutes later to open the door for us, and in 30 second time, led us to our room and gave us the keys and left.
So very hospitable
