  On 21 dec2017, it was already dark around 3pm when I took this photo ! My local tour guide used to play around here in summer! I imagine it would be lovely to walk on the green grassland (hardly any trees in Iceland) in summer! In winter, it is a lovely picture location. We stopped here for about 20 minutes on the way to Ice caving at the South Coast

  This was an amazing hidden gem. We stumbled upon this area and stayed for awhile taking pictures. You can basically get right down to the river (but don't get too close as this area is pseudo-remote and don't expect help). The water is VERY blue.

  Brúarhlöð is off the touristy sites that the tour buses go to. It is worth the stop. There is a parking area with a picnic table. Get out and walk around the rapids! See the rock formations.

  So worth the detour to see this. Some periods of the year, this area is completely flooded. The water is incredibly blue. Very tranquil here from typical tourist Areas
