Simple, traditionnal and succulent food.
Nice staff
Really good soups
This is a museum and a restaurant. And for the neighborhood this is a good option: they serve the perfect food for after a long day in the cold weather. I had meatballs.
Wondering stop on the way to Hofn, in a spectacular wild setting close to the ocean (the sea makes a constant roar in the background). The centre and restaurant are modern and well maintained. The food was local and great - we had the lamb soup and local bread and it was perfect. Lovely staff and the perfect break in the trip.
Was a nice dining experience. Had lunch here and wasn't disappointed at all. The staff where friendly and the food was great. My mate had grilled char(fish of the salmon family) and I had the lamb patties which just melted in my mouth.
The exhibition is simple yet hearty free entrance when you are a guest at the restaurant. We dined here twice and the food is very good. We love the lamb soup it's the best. Main course Fish Combo is good, we also had the grilled lamb, very delicious. I also age the meatball, more of a comfort food with jam. The chocolate LAVA is a Must order. Enjoy the pics! And the service is fantastic. Super friendly and welcoming.
Museum entry is 1000ISK or comes free with a meal at the restaurant. The lamb soup and the local beer were great though rather expensive. I paid extra to get the soup as a main. 2800ISK in total.
After the meal it was interesting to find out about the history of Þórbergur via an excellently narrated audio tour of a well constructed museum.
If you are staying at one of the nearby guesthouses it’s a great way to spend the evening.
Good fresh restaurant with delicious food but very expensive even compared to other places in Iceland, very light meals it won't be difficult to eat your plate We were cycling there and we got hungry 1h after leaving the place (after spending 1850isk in soup and bread each (you only get one refill and not much bread))
Very small portions, poor quality and pricy. Ordered same food in other restaurants of the region and were completely different. We had to go to another restaurant 400meters far from this place to continue with our dinner
Excellent friendly staff and basic but good food at a reasonable price.
We met here for a Glacier Tour and ate at the restaurant after. The food was delicious and the service was very warm and friendly.
Little slow in service but the food is great along with the staff. Had some local food and desert now going to try the local firewater(brennivin)
Very interesting museum. Very detailed in English.
Great audio tour, the museum is done in detail. Beautiful location and friendly staff. We had lunch here and tried the local beer- Vatnajökull- a must try if you're traveling in the southern parts of Iceland. There is also a souvenir shop and some books of the famous author.
We loved the Museum, many things to see and walk into, nicely done audioguide
