The fish was not salted enough and it was way too tender. The lamb was almost raw. But the taste was great.

I got to try puffin here! I felt a little underdressed but the staff didn't have a problem with it. I tried a lamb combo and it was all very good.

This place is unassuniming from the outside but inside is a very beautiful restaurant with very attentitive and friendly staff. My husband got the 3 course lamb meal and I got the 3 course lobster meal. Weeks later and my husband is still talking about the lamb and I'm still dreaming of the lobster soup. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fine dinner night

Compared to the other restaurant offerings in the area, this restaurant was just okay. We had a dinner reservation for three and they provided us at a table, downstairs next to the kitchen. One would have thought the service then would have been good, but not really. In all the restaurants around Reykjavik that we visited, this by far was the lowest when evaluating food, service, and overall experience.

I had booked a table for Christmas Dinner 2017 for my husband and two daughters. Living in Australia and trying to organise this I thought might be an impossible feat. I had a little trouble trying to organise this because of the distance and maybe a communication issue. However after some effort I managed to book and pay for a table for three.
The manager was wonderful and sent me, at my request, three vouchers with each name on as this was a gift from me for my family.
My family were extremely satisfied with the service, location and food and said it was the highlight of their holiday.
Amazing restaurant to dine at and I would recommend you visit.
Thank you for providing me with exactly what I wanted for my booking
I hope one day soon to dine at Skolabru Restaurant in Reykjavik.

Had a nice and delicious dinner here. It was a bit more upscale than we expected. We had an app, two main course, and two drinks for around $140 which certainly isn't terrible for Iceland

Eating here was a happy coincidence. We stumbled upon it while wandering around and decided to give it a try. We got excellent service and wonderful food.

We got duck and salmon for the entrees. Perfect cooks on the food and the sauces were awesome.

If we're ever in town again, we'll be back!

It’s a given that food in Iceland comes at a high price — restaurant food, even more so. From the basic hamburger to the peak of fine dining, you’d better be prepared to put down some relatively serious cash if you plan on eating… anything. So when you do decide to dine out, you want that money to be spent wisely, getting high quality, full-flavoured food served with a friendly smile and courteous professionalism.

That’s where Skólabrú shines.

My wife and I stumbled on it whilst wandering around Reykjavik and made a point of going there the next day. We were a bit concerned because the decor suggests an elegant atmosphere and as we were tourists, our attire was anything but elegant. But our hostess assured us that we would be most welcome, regardless of what we were wearing.

The serving staff were collectively friendly and courteous whilst maintaining the high level of professionalism you find in fine dining establishments without being pretentious. Our three course set menu didn’t feel rushed as our server even asked if we’d like to wait a while between our main course and dessert.

For our starter, we decided on a duo of Wild Goose Carpaccio and Smoked Puffin with Goat Cheese. The puffin gave us some mild moral pause for thought but we figured that we’d never get another chance. Both were delicious, by the way (perhaps the puffin even more so).

Our main course was a Rack of Lamb, Braised Cabbage and a Potato Pave. I’m not sure if I could discern the difference between Icelandic lamb and lamb from the myriad other countries in the world, but the preparation was exquisite — perfect doneness, flavourful and juicy to the last bite.

As for dessert, well let’s just say that I’ve never had a souffle before so to have a chocolate one prepared fresh and hot was the ideal initiation. Rich and decadent, perhaps a bit too sweet but the vanilla ice-cream balanced it nicely.

We were so impressed with the food and the service that we decided to return for dinner the next night as it was our last night in Iceland and we wanted to go out with a bang.

This time on the menu: a starter of Creamy Lobster Soup; mains of Sea Wolf with mango, chilli and ginger sauce for my wife and a Roasted Salted Cod for me; for dessert, Creme Brûlée. Again, all prepared with care and skill and most importantly, flavour.

So as I mentioned, when in Iceland, food is at a premium so choose your meals - and your restaurants - wisely. Dinner at Skólabrú was well worth the investment!
