Would recommend eating at. Really great and delicious, local food. Great casual atmosphere.
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff.
I recommend reservations, they are busy.
Very nice place! Cozy location, good food. A 4 course dinner not too expensive.
This place is really nice and chilled. Big bar area and an equally large restaurant area. Good idea to reserve a table at the weekends. The appetizers are actually not so small - for instance the burger with fries is definitely enough for dinner. They also have happy hour for drinks. You can eat for about 2000isk per person.
This place was incredible! I had the fish (fabulous!) and the dark chocolate cake. Our server, Gunnar made our experience. Very good food, very reasonable, and relaxed atmosphere. This place is not to be missed!
We had an excellent dinner here last night. Best food we've eaten in Reykjavik and such reasonable prices! It's local, traditional meats/fish, I had the char and my boyfriend had the horse. Can't praise this place enough!
Lovely atmosphere, food delicious and great bar staff. The horse steak was amazing. Best food of our trip.
We had a mixed meal of several different plates. The horse was very tasty and lean. My wife enjoyed their quesadilla. Nice ambience and friendly staff. Drinks are expensive but it is Iceland of course.
Best restaurant in the town! Food was amazing! Service was great! Had to go by a few times while visiting. Highly recommended.
A fairly wide selection is on offer, though the multi-course meals were front and center. I had a four course meal featuring a lamb filet. The starter of hot smoked salmon followed by beef carpaccio, was delightful. The dessert of creme brulee with rubarb compote was the right balance of sweet and creamy. Very reasonably priced. Enjoyed with a Jola Kaldi christmas seasonal beer.
The best meal I have ever eaten. We went here for our 1 year anniversary. My wife and I both got different 4 course options and every item was AMAZING! Not to mention we got to cross a few things off our "I want to try list; horse, Icelandic lamb and langoustine.
The service was great and if you go during happy hour drinks are half-off!
Nice and cozy atmosphere. Salmon was great. Superb langoustine soup. Little bit salty for me though.
Great food and drinks. Top quality. This place should have a Michelin star. It competes with the best restaurants in Chicago.
Food is just delicious! I had loungostine soup and hot smoked salmon and my friend had the lamb. He said it was the best lamb he had , simply melting in your mouth with perfect texture and sauces that come along with it. Local beer also great. Prices are pretty fair for Iceland, even on lower scale compared to other restaurants. Would definitely recommend !!
Wonderful freshly smoked salmon and great mussels. Really outstanding. Cute place too. It felt like the kind of place we'd eat in regularly if we lived in Iceland. Mostly an Icelandic crowd.
Loved this restaurant! Food was reasonably priced by Reykjavik standards but really delicious, the best smoked salmon I've ever tasted and the duck was really good too. The service was excellent and our waiter was great, so friendly and chatty and really efficient, was looking after a whole section and always kept an eye on everything, we were never waiting long to be served another drink or more food. We were also there during happy hour so beers were well priced too. Highly recommended!!!!!
Incredible 4 course meal! The smoked salmon appetizer was unbelievable!
Delicious, but pricy local fare. Showed up at prime time on a Friday night with no reservations and the staff squeezed is into a clearing table in five minutes. Service was amazing and the food was great.
Forréttabarinn directly translates into Hors d'oeuvre bar and a selection of small courses and a bit bigger courses. Two small ones or one bigger is what I usually get.
They've got a good selections of beer on tab and in bottles, and a happy hour. Food is pretty good, and they've got a "mini burger" that's not so mini and quite good.
We had dinner here on our last night in Iceland. It was also to celebrate the birthday of some of our friends. This seems to be where some of the younger Icelandic people hangout on the weekends. Had a vibrant upbeat vibe. One of the better meals we had while we were here and a good way to end our trip.
Excellent, unassuming food. Bold flavors that complement each other. Each dish stood out on its own. Seafood was fresh and well cooked and well seasoned. Service was fast and efficient. Large wine selection. Good place to go with groups. My favorite seafood place in Reykjavik.
