Warm reception, we were lucky to be here as the only visitors on an october day: it has been a deep experience into another time. Recommended.

Great museum. Add 15m to the opening time. Could only get tickets 10m after opening, they were still turning on lights in the museum at 20 past.

You wouldn't expect much of a herring museum in remote Iceland, but hands down, this is one of the best museums I have visited for a long time. You get to get really close to a lot of the items as you walk through the authentic rooms where the people of the old herring industry lived. The museum also has an amazing building full of old machinery used to process the herring, which is really interesting. Towards the end there is a building full of old fishing boats with one big boat where you can crawl around and down into different rooms etc. If you are travelling through Siglufjördur on your trip to Iceland, it is definitely worth a visit!

An outstanding museum in three buildings. We began in the southernmost building which coverd the history of the port and its herring industry. The next building / warehouse contained some of the machinery and equipment, including full size boilers and furnaces. The final building, which is worth leaving till last, is a replica harbour which contains two fishing boats and a couple of smaller boats. You can go on the boats. Allow at least an hour, or longer if you want to get realy into it.

Nice overview of the herring era. Some ships, some equipment, a video. It is just a big warehouse like construction, if there are a lot of noisy people there, like children, it does carry the sound. I do not mind though, but others night. You can also visit one of the ships.

An excellent piece of history. Very nice exhibition. I really liked that you could approach and look closely at most objects, very few were behind bars like your typical museum.

A very extensive and hands-on museum. I took a 7 year old here and she loved how interactive and immersive the museum is. A great place for the family to explore.
