Pretty cool, good for a quick stop to stretch the legs and walk around. Add a rock to a cairn. Information sign has English. No bathrooms.

The stone buildings represent hope. It's nice to be able to add to it but not a must see. It's on route one so I would suggest stopping if you pass by.

Looked like a nice spot when we were planning the trip but we only saw pictures from summer time. When it is almost completely covered in snow it is less impressive.

Luckily we were there when the sun was almost setting so the sun was very low and was casting beautiful long shadows on the snow.

An interesting little point on the N1 ring road. The only place where it is permitted to build cairns. Not a must see but interesting nine the less. There is a large cairn which also represents the location of a farm lost after an eruption a few hundred years ago.

A neat place to stop when driving the ring road. Place a stone on one of the mounds to give safe travels to the farmer whose farmhouse was destroyed in the first recorded volcanic eruption in the area thousands of years ago.

This is a nice 5 minute stopover off route 1 along the southern coast of Iceland. Definitely worth stopping to have a look if you are passing by.

It was raining and cloudy when we visited so the view wasn't great but considering how easy it is to stop at I would definitely suggest it to others travelling this road. Took a few minutes and there was some really cool lore behind these rock structures. TIP bring a rock from your home to add to the piles :)

Looks strange and mysterious for the first minute, but it's a man-made site, you can rean the story of the place on the board. But lava fields that start just few km from here are amazing :)

We were driving down the ring road and came across this. There is a sign there that explains what it is (it is a part of a lava ridge that travelers put rocks in piles for good luck). I would say that it is mildly interesting but I don't think it is really worth your time if you're there for only a week. There are a lot more interesting sites in Iceland.
