We stayed at Hrifunes for one night and it was more than we could ask for. We stayed in their newly built accommodations (after being upgraded!) which were warm, clean, modern and very cozy. Beds were comfortable and the shower was amazing!

We had a home cooked dinner in the main house with other guests and the owners and it was delicious. There was a good variety of foods for both me and my boyfriend, who is a vegetarian (he had about 3-4 dishes to chose from). Breakfast was equally good and we felt completely taken care of during our stay.

Overall, we couldn't have asked for more, we were even able to see the northern lights from right outside the property!

Such a wonderful experience! The guesthouse was clean and cute and the staff was wonderful. I mentioned online when booking that I eat gluten free and at breakfast the next morning they took out special toast and rice cakes that I could eat. The scenery was amazing! Perfect place to stay out in the country!

Beautiful spot to stay very remote and isolated. The Farmhouse is charming and cosy. Breakfast is cooked and so is dinner. All the guests eat together in the two rooms. It's super communal and a really fantastic place to stay and the food is very good and the owner is are super helpful

We absolutely loved our stay here! We spent a week in Iceland and of all the places we stayed, this was by far our favorite. The family dinners are a must (the food is absolutely phenomenal)! We met so many people from all over the world, it was just a very fun environment. At night, we were able to see the northern lights dance over the mountains to the north. It was a magical experience. The location was great too! It's about halfway between Glacier Lagoon and the Golden Circle.I would love to go back and just spend more time at this guest house and in the surrounding area.

The dinner here was delicious and (Sarah?) was able to accommodate me being a vegetarian. There were about 10 at the dinner in January, but she said in summer it is around 30 or 35.
The rooms are nice and she has a degree in hospitality management.

This place is so awesome!! It was one of the the highlights of our trip to Iceland! The room we stayed in was brand new and had a wonderful view across the hills. I just can’t say enough good things about this place!!! Be sure to reserve a spot at the dinner party in advance!

Super cute & clean! Friendly staff but the "3 course" meal is really only 2 course; still fine for the price would just rather call it what it is. Maybe coffee is a course in Iceland :-)

Excellent, clean, modern, warm, with good views and lovely food. Really valuable to be brought around a communal table for dinner, as well. Great comfy beds; perfect for couples or friends wanting a little comfort.

Absolutely loved my stay here. The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful when it came to making day plans and what to do. It also helps they made delicious food. The guesthouse itself is picturesque along with the location. It was such a great way to meet other fellow travelers and learn from them. The only two gripes I have are the internet barely worked (which isn't always a bad thing though), and that the location although beautiful can be hard to get to. All of that said, if I ever have the pleasure to return to this beautiful country I will want to come back here to stay.

Yes, it is a budget-friendly facility, but that doesn't mean that it is without charm and comfort! The beds were so comfy and the showers hot and well-provisioned. The breakfast was ample and varied, shared at a common table with other guests from all over the world. The hostess, Annja, was most accommodating, especially when hauled out of her own bed to open my room when I locked my key inside - so gracious. There is a wealth of information in the main building - comfortable seating and interesting artifacts. It was so atmospheric to look out my window at fields of grass, lava, and sheep in the rain and feel so cozy and warm. I wish we had arrived on time to enjoy the optional dinner - the comments from the other guests in the morning made my mouth water.

What a find! My boyfriend and I got "upgraded" to the family room in the house which was really cozy. The bed was super comfortable (a single mattress even!) and the room super quiet. The dinner was exceptional, one of our favorites of our time in Iceland.

I've stayed with Hadda and Haukur twice at Hrifunes and met up with them a third time in Reykjavik. They are consummate professionals and happy hosts, offering social experience and personable hospitality. I can't say enough about their warmth and generosity. The rooms are modern and well appointed. For those worried at remoteness, don't be. The location is perfect for visiting the glaciers and sights in Southwestern Iceland. Just drive and take it in. You may star or borealis gaze on clear nights and enjoy a view to the valley and river during the day. But the best part, is the communal dinner and postprandial relaxation in the common area. I am lastingly content for filling up on Hadda and Haukur's kindness, the conversation of other guests, and five-star meals.
