Pictures can never do this place justice. Literally hundreds of little (and big) waterfalls everywhere. You have to go over a mountain pass to get there, so be sure to check the weather. The roads is dirt, and the path gets narrow, but the payoff is worth it. As you begin to descend, you're greeted with this insane view of the valley below. The mountains on either side are impossibly large and steep. As you go further, you're met with waterfalls right next to the road. Go a little further, and you'll see the main falls. And, just after that is the best picnic bench placing in possibly the entire world.

This was my absolute favorite stop in all of Iceland. I don't know, it could have been because it was on the only sunny day we had during our week long visit to the country, but it was absolutely fabulous. There are a few extremely steep hills on the dirt road leading down to the falls. I probably wouldn't have made the trip if it were raining. I'm not sure I would have made it back up those hills if it was muddy. We got there at 5 am and were the only ones there. Well worth the 30-40 minute one way drive off the main road.

It's not just the beautiful waterfalls you'll see there, it's the whole experience and epic journey of crossing the mountain to get to the area. Driving there can be quite a challenge but fun. We went in May and both sides of the road were walls of snow more than 2m high. Explore the area and be amazed by the wonderful sight of the fjord.

A beautiful place with a cascading waterfall. Beside the normal road which mass of tourists and a trip trough a pass with fog and snow you will reach this place which has a lots of water during the spring. The ground around the waterfall is very wet and you need good shoes to reach him directly.
